I worked with the Australian Navy a few years ago. They bought 2 of our LST's and are now named the HMAS MANOORA L-52 (ex-USS Fairfax County LST-1193) and HMAS KANIMBLA L-51 (ex-USS Saginaw LST-1188) home ported in Sydney. I really enjoyed working with those men and women. They were all gracious and hard working (and hard playing).

This might not be what you mean exactly but what sticks in my mind the most is......hoping I get to visit Australia some day & that I get to visit during the grand final of the Australian Rules Football League. I used to be able to follow it in one of the sports channels but sadly, they don't carry it anymore.

The poisonous snakes, spiders, and animals. (I had no idea a platypus had venomous spurs?? Yikes!)

I've always wanted to visit Australia, but after watching a documentary, I was a little put off by all the poisonous creatures.
