if my stereo says 180 watts on the back, but the specs are advertised as 360 watts whatshould I use for?
for figuring out what my amp ratting is so that I know how much its drawing on the circuit?
In a house. I'm wiring a new room to use my computer and 360watt stereo, but the stereo as I said on the back lists it as 180.. do I go by the 180? (which would be 1.5AMP)

I'm using 14-2 wiring, I'm just trying to make sure I pull to many amps and blow my fuses. (old house, It has fuses, but they are 30 amp fuses and I dont have the money to redo the whole thing at this time.)
Thanks for the answers so far.

If you are talking electric power consumption there are no cables that are legal to use for house wiring that go down to such a small rating. If you use a cable with number 14 wires in it, that is good for 15 amps (1800 watts).

do not use 30amp fuses with 14awg wire you WILL burn your house down if you get a short circuit.14awg wire is rated for 15 amps max,so use 15amp fuses.

i would use the nameplate on the back. the ads exaggerate and spec sheets can cover a whole range of a particular model.
