Try meditation. Do not drink any caffeine before you go to bed or drink any after 6 PM. Even 6 PM is late for drinking a caffeinenated drink. Do not exercise before bed because that will stimulate you and you'll be wider awake. Do not use your bedroom for anything other than sleeping. Try buying some black-out drapes for your bedroom windows. You can get them at JCPenney's or other places, even online. Try some herbal tea like Sleepy Time or drink some warm milk. Also, try aroma therapy. Get aromas that comfort you and make you feel good. Do not smoke a cigarette before bed because that can also stimulate you. If all else fails, go to your doctor and explain your sleeping patterns. He may or may not prescribe a hypnotic medication. You can also buy OTC Benadryl and take as directed to aid in making you sleepy. I think Tylenol PM's are just Tyelenol and Benadryl combined. Benadryl by itself is very cheap at any pharmacy. Try meditation tapes. They are a great help in clearing your mind as you listen to a soothing voice.
Good luck.

First, you need to assess reasons why you cannot sleep.
It can be anything, too much on your mind, insomnia, the environment you're in, etc.
Some general things I would do are:
-make sure around the time you want to sleep, you do not eat/drink anything that gives you energy. ie. high caloric foods, caffeine.
-take some vitamins that set your mind to rest: some good ones to research for yourself are Melatonin, Valerian, 5HTP. Also try some comforting chamomile tea.
-personally, I try to clear my mind of any thoughts that keep my mind running. Try meditation, visualizing yourself letting go of all thought. eventually, you'll fall asleep.

You can try melatonin, which is a natural over the counter supplement you can buy at CVS. It's better for your stomach than Tylenol PM. It really works especially if you are stressed and can't seem to relax.

Warm (not hot) bath, cosy bedding, lavender on your pillow (not much though) then I chill with a book.
If that doesnt work, then try the above, after going for a walk in the fresh air.
Good luck
