What time would it be(real time) exactly 2000 years ago?

Today is July 1 2008, I want to know if there is a mathematical formula to determine what the time (Real time) would have been 2000 years ago. i.e. It is currently 10:52 pm E.S.T, 2000 years ago at this moment would it have really been 10:52pm E.S.T. or would it have been later or earlier in the day? I'm sure there are MANY variables to take into consideration however if there is a formula to get to the answer, I would appreciate knowing it.

    interesting question, dunno: think the time would be the same REGARDLESS of Date/ Calendar in use -- Year & Calendar wouldn`t affect the time-of-day -- would always be 10:52 [your example] no matter what era -- & assuming of course the same format in use, people used arbitrary names (example: it was the "3rd Watch", whatever, in Roman times) -- If you`re at 12:00 Noon, for example, I guess it would be Noon no matter how far back you go

    There is definitely a mathematical formula for figuring it out but figuring it out would be a bit of work. A solar year is 365.2425 days. Take that into consideration and at when they started using leap years to adjust the seasons. A bit of work like I said.

    Well, first of all, you need to define "year". The calendar that we currently use wasn't invented until the 1500's. This means that if you went back 2000 years in the past, the calendar that you are using wouldn't match thier calendar. And, since your calendar wouldn't match, you could concievably make it any day that you desired...
