Are the tactics used by *some* Christians on R&S ethical?
I've noticed an up-surge in Christian attempt to sway Jews here lately. There have been a lot of "questions" about the prophecies Jesus supposedly fulfilled, etc...
But when Jews answer with substantive answers, the questioner just deletes the question. G-d forbid they actually open their minds!--or allow a good answer to stand, since it goes against what they believe.
Likewise with Christians who go through & thumbs-down all Jewish answers...without bothering to offer a response, much less an intelligent response.
So here's the question: Christians, why are you so afraid to actually consider what Jews have to say about their own scriptures? Can you even pretend to be intellectually honest when you use these tactics?
I have to add: As a Jew, I've asked many questions of Christians and been mightily offended by the answers. Not ONCE have I deleted the question because of that, though
Lol...I see one of them have been here already...going down the list & giving thumbs down...
SweetieRC: I was very careful to say *some* Christians. I'm well aware that there are many intelligent Christians who--even though I disagree with them--are respectful and will answer with honesty. In fact, I've noticed some of your posts for that reason. I'm sorry you had a bad experience; I've liked much of what you've written, & DO find you respectful.

I have to say as a Christian, I am sorry for all of those who answer/dismiss substantive answers from Jewish people. I fear that they do so because they are not well read/taught about the Bible, or just have a lack of understanding. I have Jewish friends and I like to talk with them about the Bible because translation can loose meaning. I hope that I do not offend you with my response, and I know we all have to stand for our convictions. For if don't stand for something you will surly fall for any thing. Let us all pray for wisdom and guidance.

I haven't noticed either of those techniques, deleting the question or thumbing. I haven't been paying much attention though.
However I do notice that if I give an effective answer - it's ignored & only some small substatment is paid any attention. There's never acknowledgement that the point was valid, and that it needs a counter answer from them.
Truthfully the whole thing is tiring & boring. So, I'm not going to be bother nearly as much. How weak are some of these people's beliefs (the quality of those beliefs), that they depend on getting others to beleive them? That level of arrogance is a sign of a fool. That's all they prove to me. That & that they have no idea how to read or study Torah. I can't come back easily with pat answers because in Torah you never have "pat, one line" answers. And I can't research & return the full intense statements for each of their needs to convert me. ...Or then I'm not spending time on studying what IS interesting to me about Torah at the moment. In otherwords the whole thing is tiring & boring & takes me away from spirituality.
I do wonder why people are so closed minded that they don't try to learn from us too. If only to improve their ability to make an effective argument.
On whether a tactic is ethical, is for each person to decide of their own actions (in my opinion).

You are like my friends & the majority of Christian people I know!

That's a sweeping Generalization of ALL Christians, I have seen disrespect and answers about Jesus that I have found REALLY offensive, I have also at times seen baiting questions TO Christians on here it works both ways!. Usually I support the JPA on here in their own beliefs, but I have to say yesterday I came across the very thing you are talking about against my faith ie Us Catholics are supposedly Ritualistic Cannibals and are icky, and I did offer an intelligent response backed by Scripture and no I didn't pretend to be intellectually honest I WAS HONEST!. As I said it works both ways on here, and no I wont be deleting this answer and I am not out to Convert Jewish people from their faith either!.
Edit;Thank you I am always open to other peoples beliefs and will defend anyone against bigots as you know, however I had to state what I said above as I have found this myself I am not generalizing but I have seen this, the people you are referring to I am taking a wild guess here a the fundie element we all have them!

To put it bluntly, they use the same strategy and tactics that unscrupulous high pressure sales people use --- fear of a loss and hope of a gain. The human mind cannot fear and think reasonably at the same time.

Very good points -- I think the thing is they are here to preach and "win Jews over" and not learn, or listen to any info that is not in line with their way of thinking.
There is one person who continually asks questions about the messiah, and regardless of how many times the info is shared, the person disregards it -- why, I have no idea, other than the person obviously does not want to know the truth, they just want to preach, and try to convert others.
How many times have people posted about their "Jewish pastor" -- my word, it almost makes blood come shooting out of my eyes -- time and time again, people have been told that the 'pastor' is a CHRISTIAN, but still, they do not want to believe differently than they already do -- it's sad, and frustrating.

Delete, thumbs down, whatever.
Isn't this supposed to be a free & open forum where people can go to ask & answer questions without being ridiculed, in spite of their personal opinion, whether you agree with it or not.

I saw one of those questions yesterday. I cut, pasted and saved the most thorough answer (of what prophecies Jesus didn't fulfill) because I was interested in it and I *knew* it was going to get deleted.
As for this question - intellectual honesty is not a pillar of the Christian community.

It isn't just when the Jews answer.. it's when anyone who can prove them wrong answers that the question immediately gets deleted. I've seen it happen as late as this morning on here.

This is yahoo answers don't take it to seriously. People come in here with a set mind being atheists, muslims, christians, or jews. We are all equally convinced we are right.

Because Christianity was formed on a false premise, it utilizes false information to propagate itself.
Christianity actually has more in common with Hellenized religion rather than Judaism, but most Christians reject that simply because it would render the OT prophesies as unfulfilled.
The theory of the Trinity was created to support this very thing. Augustine understood that the Jesus figure actually didn't fulfil OT prophesies like Isaiah 9, and contradicted the covenant where God states empirically not to have other Gods before him.
