Need help identifying aircraft?

If it didn't have the "two front white headlights and white and red beacon lights on the wings" like you said, I would suspect that it might have been like the UFO I saw. I think what I saw was a top secret stealth blimp powered by some sort of powerful silent propulsion system, maybe some sort of a nuclear generated ion propulsion system. I live in southern Illinois near Scott Air Force Base and on the early morning of January 5th of 2000, I saw proof positive that those UFO triangle things are real. I spent the night in the barn tending to a foaling mare and went outside the barn to smoke a cigarette and look around because the horses was becoming spooked by something and acting strange. And when I went outside I could hardly believe the size of this huge triangle thing that was moving slow from northeast to southwest almost directly over the barn and could not have been more than 800 feet or 1000 feet high. It looked to be at least 100 yards long and pretty close to 100 yards wide at the back and it had three huge white lights on the bottom, one near each corner, and one huge red light on the bottom center but it had no flashing red, green or white aircraft strobes on it. The red light looked to be about 6 or maybe even 10 feet in diameter and was a little bigger than the white lights but what was really strange was that as big and as bright as the white lights was they did not light up the ground below. My wife was in the barn and I called her out to look and when she saw it she screamed and ran back into the barn to get a rifle. I only looked away for maybe 2 or 3 seconds when I turned to shout at my wife to tell her not to shoot at it and when I turned back to look at it again it had turned slightly more to the southwest and was going like a bat out of hell. That's when I could see that there was a huge long and tall bar of streaming white lights flashing in rapid sequence from corner to corner across the back end of it. My wife was only in the barn for about 15 or 20 seconds getting the rifle and when she came back out it was already more than 10 miles away and well beyond Scott Air Force Base. The path it took went right over Scott Air Force Base. I would have thought that surely no one would ever believe what we saw except for one thing. The morning television news was all reporting that, among the dozens of people who reported seeing it, there was almost a half dozen police officers scattered out over a thirty mile stretch of rural towns it passed over who also reported seeing it. But the Scott Air Force Base MPs who was guarding the gates and patrolling the base and the Scott Air Force Base control tower personnel, all who should have also seen it, said they didn't see anything. A spokesman for the base told the news people that no on duty personnel reported anything unusual flying over the base. From end to end it was nearly the size of a football field and passed right over their base at about 800 feet or maybe 1000 feet high and no one on base reported seeing it. Now what does that say about our Air Force? Either that they are blind or that it is something top secret that belongs to them. The last reported sighting that morning was when it crossed the Mississippi River into Missouri and there was no sightings reported after daybreak. I think what you described could have been a B-2 Stealth Bomber but that is sure as blazes not what we saw here in southern Illinois in the early morning darkness on January 5th of 2000. We saw one of those triangular UFO things that has been seen all over the world, but mostly in the United States, Belgium, and the UK.

Those two "headlights" were only landing lights. All aircraft are needed to have blinking and static lights so the direction the aircraft is flying is known by other pilots, ATC, etc as well as so it is known that an aircraft is in the proximity. Some lights rotate(the flashing) while others are static. Those lights also have to be able to be seen by over a distance of what I believe is 3 miles( I guess about 5km). I doubt what you was a flying wing as the only known one that is operational is the B-2 bomber operated only by the US and from what is known, non are stationed in the UK. It couldn't of been an F-117 as those were also only operated by the US and they were retired in April. It was only an airliner or private jet that was a distance from you on approach explaining the low altitude. By the way, if E.T. does pay a visit to Nottinghamshire, get out of there.

It is a Douglas DC-3. A propeller-driven aircraft. A successful plane during the 1930s and 1940s During World War II, many civilian DC-3s were drafted for the war effort and thousands of military versions of the DC-3 were built under the designations C-47 (Air Force), C-53, R4D, and Dakota. The emblem on the tail LOOKS like the 67th Intelligence Wing. It has the correct overall shape, 4 stars in the right place, etc. The wing did start up in the early forties, may have had name and emblem changes, however. This is iffy info. The type plane is a sure thing.

What you saw was not a UFO. It had the flashing light configuration of a conventional aircraft.

You may have seen a delta wing aircraft. There are several military types and some experimental deltas out there.

Try checking one of the online encyclopedias of aircrafts.

What you saw could be a stealth aircraft, such as the F-117 or the B-2 aircraft.

But its probably a regular low flying jetliner with swept - wings

Probably just a plane with it's landing lights on. Maybe a B-2

Sounds like a plane.

Could be one from quite a number. There are lots and lots of British and American planes which fit much of your description. Don't know where you are so the scope widens.

seeing as you are in the east midlands im going to suggest it was the Avro Vulcan XH558, the worlds first delta wing nuclear bomber
