How common is it for families to name all of their children with the same 1st letter?

I was just wondering...My son's friend and his siblings all have the same begining letter in their name and I was curious as to how common that is. For Example: They are Jessica, Johnny, Jalene, Jordan, Justin....

I went to a name seminar a few years ago and the author and I got talking about that subject and it turns out that it seems to be a link to mother superiority -- where a mother wants to be in control of her children, but only if the letter is the same as hers.

It was so predominant in my family that he included us in his book as an example. My mother's maiden name is Kakuko Kasai (Japanese). She married a German hose last name is Kaufmann.

    I am Katrin.

    Then my sister Karin.

    Then Monika.

    Then Karl.

I was unaware of the link when I named my daughter Skaie.

The other cousins names are Kiara, Karis.

I think somewhere, the KA factor predominated subsonciously as my daughter is going to call her son KAden.

Another friend subconsciously called his daughters names that had NI in them-- DaNIelle, NIcole and MoNIque.

Personally I think we get so used to the sound of it that it is familiar and reassuring so we pick names that make us feel good. But that's just my opinion... no fact... but I did have a friend who came from a family of 10 children and they all had names starting with the letter J. Apparently, both parents just liked the letter, so instead of scouring a book with names through the whole alphabet, every time a baby came along, they just looked for the next J name they liked!

I actually see this quite often. I am not a huge fan myself but can see it.

Also I know a family that all have SMH as their initials. The hubby & wife just happened to be the same so when they started having kids, they stuck with it. I guess if the girls get married someday and take a new name that might change.

I dont think it is that common...but i definately have a friend whos mother did that.

    Adam, Amanda, Ashley, Alicia

Then they had a 5th and was supposed to be the last so they Named him Zachary (to signify the end)

Then a 6th came along (oops!) they were going to call her Zoey to stick with the Z's....but the grandmother hated the name and so they went with Brittany

What about that family that has like 17 kids? I'm pretty sure all the kids have J names. I can't remember the parents names though. They were on TLC....anyone know who I'm talking about?

I wouldn't be able to come up with 17 J names!

Maybe their parents think J names sound the best with their last name, or they want all their kids to have the same initials. Who knows.

My kids' names end with -iam or -ion and I never even thought about it until a friend pointed it out after asking what we were going to name our daughter one day. (ended with a -ion too).

I think a lot of families do it so they're family matches in a way. To seperate them as a group unto themselves.

Our family. We are five, 4 daughters and a son, My name is Carren and my sisters are Cecilia, Catherine and Celina, my brother's name is different cause he's an only boy, his name is Rolando.

Cecilia my eldest sister named her kids with names that starts with letter S, Sedale and Selwyn. And Catherine the second one, named her two kids, Cate Xandra and Jhun Xandrics (their second name starts with letter X), and my brother named her daughters, Kimberly and Chellsy (both ends in letter Y) hahaha fun name game!

Lots of my family did that. My auntie, my uncle, and then my other uncle. and my parents also sort of did it.

My auntie did it with their first and second names.

my auntie's name is Jennifer Rebekah, and her husband is Keenan Harry, so they decided to use J & H's.

    They have..

    Jasmine Holly

    Jessica Hayley

    Jackob Harry

    Jemma Haidee.

I think it is nice sometimes when you have twins, my uncle named his twin girls

    Tahlia Brodie

    Tatum Brooke.

And i think they are very cute, but thats the thing they are cute, and cute doesnt go well with like 30 year old women named Tahlia. Well i dont think it does.

My mum & dad gave us all names that end in ah.

    Bianca

    Hadassah

    Leah

    Ella

    Sophia

And i love it all like that, cos we have our own unique names, but are bonded together by something. and im really close to my family anyway.

My uncle did it all with a's.

    Aimiee

    Aaron

    Alicia

    Adam.

So its quite common in my family, but i dont think it is anyway else.

    haha.

it depends, all familys are different, i do know one of my friends familys have kids all beginning with the letter L, its Luke, Leeanne, and Lily. Usually if all the kids have the same first name the family is pretty close. it isnt very common, but its not rare .

    hope i helped xD .

    Well how about this...

my aunt, her husband and their son's names all start with the same letter! They are the three J's!

So imagine someone asks for J Law (that's their surname), all 3 of them will answer!
