2008 WIMBLEDON: A FEDERER 6th STRAIGHT TITLE?

If Federer beats Nadal on Sunday, he will be

- only the second person to win 6 consecutive Wimbledon titles in the Championships' 131-year history after William Renshaw (1881-1886), and

- the first to do so in the open era

The current record in the open era is 5, held by Bjorn Borg (1976-1981) and Federer himself

Will it mark an unprecedented domination in world tennis?

And ultimately, will it be good to the sport?

PLEASE TICK STAR IF INTERESTING

thanks

Federer needs to win the French Open to be considered the Greatest tennis player of all time. You have to win on all surfaces !!!!!!!! Rafa may not win as many grand slam titles as Roger however he will win ALL the grandslams at some point in his career at least once :) !!! Just like Agassi :P

Vamos Rafa he can win wimbledon this year :P xxxxxx

With all these allegations about him being vulnerable I really think Federer is out for revenge. He has not dropped a set so far. He's on an amazing streak and is positively thrashing his opponents.I'm sure that beyond anything else Federer wants to prove Borg wrong.Nothing against Nadal..he will win Wimbledon someday. But I seriously think this time Roger is geared up to prove why he's the best player of all time.(yes, I'm calling Federer the greatest of all time because he has managed to reach the French Open final thrice despite of clay being his least fevourite surface and has lost only to Nadal who is the greatest clay court player of time .He has also defeated Nadal in Hamburg masters last year)..besides im not supporting nadal mainly because I find his game one dimensional..Roger has a better all court game

That's precisely why Nadal will win on Sunday. There's too much pressure on Roger to win. Nadal plays better under pressure and his grass court game has improved over the last couple of years. He almost beat Roger last year.

It is funny that Nadal is keeping Roger from being the best player of all time (some think that he will never be considered the best of all time until he wins the French) and if it weren't for Roger, Nadal would have been the number one player in the world for at least the last 4 years.

Right now you have to say he is the favorite. Nadal rules on clay, and Federer on grass. If Federer wins, it means that blowout loss in the French open final was aberation and that Federer is back to world domination form.

What makes you say it was a bad line call? Did they show the replay on hawkeye? If they didn't then don't make ridiculous claims. The ball appeared to be cleanly out. They would have shown a replay on hawkeye if it appeared to be in. Someone who did get burned was Andy Murray at the US Open final. He could have gone a break up in the 2nd set and I read that fed's ball was out and that was proven by Hawkeye (ball tracker). However I do understand your pain. It was hard for me to see Rafa almost have wimby 2007 in the bag and then choke. Same with Novak at US Open 2007. Should have had sets 1 (5 set points, 3 consecutive on his serve) and 2 (2 set points both consecutive on feds serve) and possibly US Open 2007.

Any individual who understands and follows tennis would have told you a month ago Federer would be the favorite to win Wimbledon again.

    This is no surprise.

And frankly, Nadal's play against tired opponents for three consecutive rounds had made his game worse because it says something when you win close sets against players who are half as fast as you.

Federer in my opinion will win in 4 sets.

Federer will win in straight sets. Sit back and watch.

Well, that's gonna be a very tough match but I think that the world #1 is gonna make it.

    Hope so...
