Is Avast really accurate?
I hope you don't get bored when you read this.
I have Avast antivirus and today it says there was a malware win32 trojan gen (again) once the linksys icon for my linksys wireless adapter started (when Windows started). I put "no action" because I already had a false alert last month every time I went to yahoo.com but they resolved that problem in the next update. I am not not the only one with the linksys problem because one person in avast forums had a similar problem like me.
I waited until avast updated itself, I deleted internet temporary files then scanned my computer and nothing was detected. I even turned it off and on again and no alarm.
Is Avast really accurate or not? I would like your opinions.
I forgot to tell you that the system restore was off
I laso forgot to tell you that avast used to alert me that there was a virus and there were actually files from my last antivirus software (anti cyber crime).

It is accurate you cured the problem by deleting the temporary internet files

I have used Norton and Avast. I have found out that Avast works much better than Norton and is more accurate. Every computer that I have to clean becasue of a virus is done with Avast. Norton allowed a virus to go through on a computer of a friend and there customer service was horrible. I could not clear the virus and they did not have any suggestions to help.
I uninstalled Norton and installed Avast and fixed the problem. As to the question, yes Avast is reliable and accurate. I install it on all computers that I fix now. It work very well at catching things before they infect you computer.

Avast comes out as one of the better free anti virus programs.
However, when you want some extra protection you should install Treatfire. It runs in the background next ot your clock.
It does not take up any extra RAM or CPU. You do not even know it is there.
Threaffire is an anti virus, but still can be installed next you any other anti virus program on the same computer

No anti-malware, free or otherwise, is 100% accurate. Some malware slips thru the cracks (so to speak).

Any free antivirus is bad. You get what you pay for in the world of computers, which is why free programs are never as good as the ones you pay for.
