Explain how to determine base-change specificity of a mutagen?

Its my last problem, and I'm confused. If you can, please supply websites that might help explain this better.

thanks

In order to determine the specificity of the alteration, you examine the amino acid changes that take place after mutagenesis.

A strong experimental approach to determining the mode of action of a mutagen is to examine the revertability of the products of one mutation by other mutagens (called reversion analysis), since specific base-pair substitutions can be inferred from these reversion events. A single base change, or point mutation, can in theory be distinguished by its reversion behaviors in response to specific mutations.
