  • Denied unemployment due to employer not paying unemployment taxes in Illinois?

My husband was laid off after 15 years working for a farm in Illinois. He was denied unemployment because the farm did not pay unemployment insurance and the unemployment office said employers with employees making less than $20,000 per month are not required to pay unemployment taxes. Is there anything we can do to fight this?

    Thanks

  • Whats wrong with my mare's knee?

She's got a hard lump on the lower part of her knee. Its not painful to the touch, the knee's not swollen, no heat. She's shortening her stride on that side, no obvious limp when she's walking, extremely obvious limp when she's trotting. Her knee pops when you flex it. She's 21 years old and has not been ridden since last year. She does go out to a large pasture with other horses and its been a very wet spring, lots of mud.

  • What is the most prestigious hunter/jumper horse show in the US?

For Junior riders? What is a reasonable age for the junior rider in that show and what do they need to qualify for it? I'm attempting to write a novel concerning this and would like as much backround in this as I can get. Please provide references, if possible.

    Thank you

  • Water leaking in from ceiling light fixtures?

We have found condensation in the attic. The insulation doesn't seem to be wet, though. Its a single level house. Anything else I should check for? We're trying to figure out where the water is coming from and if its a possible problem with the roof.

    Thanks.

  • Changing the ignition switch on a Chevy S10?

My husband had to change the ignition on his S10. Its all put back together, and it will turn over but it won't stay running for more than 5 seconds. It has anti-theft and an airbag. He's positive he put it back together right. Its there something we (he) can do to get it running or just give up and tow it to the shop?

    Thanks.

  • Early waking, which basal temperature should I use?

I woke up at 2:30 and my bbt was 98.19, it took me over an hour to fall back to sleep and I had about an hour and a half before my alarm got me up again at 4:30. My temp at 4:30 was 98.42. I'm thinking I should use the earlier temperature, but I'm not sure. This is the first month for me that my temps are up and not going down in a landslide, and I'm doing the pregnancy test on Friday.

  • Major problem with facebook - need advice?

I used to be able to log into my facebook account from my cell phone. Now I can only log into another user's account. How do I contact them? Is this a facebook issue or a mobile phone issue? I emailed the other person since I could get their email information from their profile. I just wanted them to know that there was a security breach somewhere. Was that a bad idea? I know I'd freak. I'm freaking. Help?

I can access facebook just fine from my desktop. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • When 2 horse herds combine: Herd dynamics?

We leased 3 acres pasture for our 3 horses. They have been herd-mates for over 5 years: 2 are mares, with 1 gelding and the mares are dominate. The people we lease from have a herd of 5 horses: 4 mares and a gelding. They bought 15 acres of pasture and now we have to combine the 2 herds.

Currently, most of their herd is unconcerned about my 3. However, their lowest ranked mare is desperate to join my herd. And my herd defiantly does not want anything to do with her. Our gelding is the big problem, he won't let her get too close and is actually chasing his herd mates away from her and then kicking and biting the other mare.

Are they going to settle this before serious damage is done?

They are still separated into their original herds for feeding and bedding down. It would be way to complicated to feed them in the same area.

  • How much should I offer someone to feed my horses?

All they would have to do is drive out and feed them twice a day for a short time while I'm on vacation. Or 1 feeding once a week if I go out of town for the afternoon. There's 3 of them.

  • Blanketing horses in winter?

I blanket mine when its in the single digits or below 0. (its been below 0 lately)

Someone has recently been airing their opinion of the horrors of blanketing horses in the winter to me. They're insisting my horse's coats will develop problems and they'll have skin issues. And I should stop blanketing them now. I have been blanketing them for years with no problems, but I was wondering if their opinion was based in fact.

So, true or false, blanketing in winter = health problems for horses.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Feeding Rabbits hay & hay cubes?

Can I feed alfalfa hay free choice to rabbits? I'm currently giving them a small amount in the morning. How quickly can I start giving them more? I don't want them to get sick. I'll be starting grass hay round bales for the horses next month, assuming the rabbits can eat that free choice, do I need to slowly wean them onto it after feeding alfalfa? Also, can I feed horse hay cubes to the rabbits? A 50lbs bag of horse cubes is $10, compared to what I'd pay for rabbit hay cubes.

  • Whats a good cell phone w/mp option?

I don't send messages, the only thing I would use the phone for is talking and listening to fm radio, or playing my own music. Or taking a few pictures, so it would need a camera. How long the battery lasts is important too, I don't want to have to recharge the thing every 10 minutes.

    Thanks.

  • Possession of property? Can he take our horses?

definition I found says: "go to court to recover specific goods the creditor is saying you have wrongfully take or kept. Creditor's rights depend on his right to possess specific goods named in his suit at the time he files suit to possess the property and not who owns the property."

So the owner of the pasture kicked us out and we took just our horses, the hot wire fence, hot wire fence posts, our horse trailer, our round pen, and our gate. Can he get our horses? He doesn't want to give us time to make arrangements to pay him something I don't think I owe him, but wants it now and isn't willing to wait until the end of sept. (which he will have to anyway if he files) He even went to myhusbands job demanding his money and then told my husband that he would see him in court and that my husband would have to pay the court fees. He didn't even let my husband explain that we we finacially stressed because he kicked us out at such short notice.

  • what is the paperwork to sue for possession of property?

we used to lease a pasture from some people and they called saying they went to a lawyer and got some paperwork to fill out saying we have 15 days to pay them or they would go to small claims court and sue for possession of property.

its for only $200, which I don't agree that I owe it but was willing to pay to get them off my a**. But they were unwilling to give me until the end of the month to pay them. They had given us only 3 weeks to get our horses off their property. And we got them off, leaving some of our property behind. But we're out. Now they want their money, right now,and I'm not sure what this is that they're sueing me for.

  • Issues with planning our vacation?

MY husband and I have no children, but take our dogs on vacation with us due to boarding them being so expensive. This year, with gas and everything being so high we're limited in where we can go. I suggested staying at my mother's, and using her house as sort of a home base and take a few overnight trips from there. Also since she lives near Chicago, there's a ton of things we can go out and do.

Now a friend of his who has been working in the amercian embassy in Russia is planning on coming home for a visit during the first 4 days of our vacation, and my husband wants to stay home and hang out with him. I'm totally against leaving 4 days late, we only have 1 week.

What should I do? Personally, I'm all for me going up to my mom's with the dogs and let him follow on the train when he wants to. Me and the dogs can go to indiana beach every day that he's not there. Then when he catches up we can do other things.

  • Anyone else get a lot of spam from Petfinder?

I've got a cockatiel posted on petfinder and I'm getting a lot of spam. People who don't realize this is a BIRD not a puppy, or whatever they think it is. I tried to avoid the spammers by putting down Cash only, local adopters only, but apparently they can't read.

  • Differences between bosal/mechanical hackmore/jumping hackmore?

What have you used, what do you prefer to use, and why? Just being curious.

I've used only bridles with bits or halter/lead rope. I definately prefer the last.
