Petrova wearing Venus tennis collection?

Hi tennis fans

I saw Petrova wearing Venus’s tennis gear and heard that she didn’t have a sponsor. I’m a bit confused because couldn’t she just wear any tennis outfit even if it’s by Nike, Addidas, etc? They said Petrova checked with Venus to see if it was okay to wear one of her designs and Venus said “absolutely”. They also said that Petrova said she really likes Venus line. I think it’s great that Petrova likes the line and Venus didn’t mind her wearing her line but couldn’t Petrova wear whatever brand she wants?

I’ve always liked Petrova and I hope she gets a sponsor again. What other players are without sponsors? What are they wearing?

Many of the players are not sponsored by the top sports makers. So I was happy to know that not only would she support Venus. Venus was nice enough to let her wear them. It is good when players support each other because many of the popular top designers do not support the lower rank players. They don't want them to wear their clothing as they don't consider them too important for their brand. you have to remember when they wear Nike, Reebok or which ever, these companies have to pay them and so as not to pay them they require them not to wear their gear. If you look closely at lower rank players they do not wear clothes by any sports lines and they might have a little sticky on their shirt or top with a name. It means that company is sponsoring them for that match only.

It's hard to believe that Petrova could not even get any clothing to wear, which is in abundance. She was probably paid to by Venus. Just like how some say the Williams family (or their weird dad) paid off the top players and dangerous floaters to lose early or play sub-par to help the two out during Wimbledon. Or was it the USTA? Who knows? Maybe it's not just the men's game that has some rumoured match-fixing going on. All I know is it was the wrong decision by Petrova because something like this only inflates the already big, ugly unnecessary ego of Venus and her family.

well,it's a perplexing system i think. she can wear whatever she likes but with big brands it's different since there are contract issues and as sheri said money. they probably state clauses that say if one loses such a contract or decides to go to another they can't don their range explicitly. in other words,if without a sponsor and you wear these things you can't show the logos or anything of that nature. because otherwise the brand might feel obligated to pay them or something. but this is just with clothing because with shoes and racquets those are necessary and can affect how one play's their game. clothing is a bit more superficial in that vein.

but i like that petrova is wearing the eleven range. i think it looks lovely on her. it softens her tough, often jock-like presence unlike the stuff she often wore from adidas which it made her look too uniformed. i love petrova though, and it matters none, really, what she dons as long as she's playing well again.

Yeah I was surprised to see her wearing Eleven also. It's really nice to see players supporting one another. I think Eleven is her sponsor now. I heard that based on her results, Adidas dropped her, or her contract was probably over and she couldn't find any other sponsor based on her low performances. So she had a talk with Venus and I guess now Venus is her sponsor!

I don't know about other players without sponsors, but I think Bethanie Mattek is without a sponsor. She makes her own outfits!

It is nice that they respect each other. I would think the manufacturers would want even a low ranking person to wear their line since the more exposure the better.

The companies could at least give them the clothes free if they didn't want to pay the players.
