"The Day the Earth Stood Still" trailer...What do you think???

Question

...as cheesy and simple as the original "The Day the Earth Stood Still" was, it STILL was a very poignant and important film, in the milestone history of science fiction.  Now, apparently, even this classic film is garnishing a remake; here is the trailer...

...man, talk about taking the concept of 'poignant' to an utmost & downright dark and grim level; if this is just the teaser...a taste of what is to come, as far as this film's release, and what is to be contained therein, I absolutely cannot wait to see what the robot Gort, looks like, in whatever conception they've seen fit to come up with....

...what are your thought and opinions???

The biggest problem I have with this remake is the casting of Keanu Reeves as Klaatu.  I just always seem to see him as "Ted", no matter what the film.  Other than that, I honestly don't know.   It looks like it could be good, but then again so did the trailer for the Planet of the Apes remake and we all know how that one turned out.   I do share in your curiosity about Gort though.  That might be reason enough to see it right there.

Not going to give it the time of day. LOVE the original. Hollywood much to much as of late takes classic movies and runs them through the Hollywood ringer pimping the latest star or pushing thier modern agenda all the while loosing the essence and simplicty that made the classic movie a classic. Can't come up with original ideas so lets ruin good old ones. No Thanks.
