who is titletown USA?

espn is doing a survey on which city is the number 1 titletown. i think green bay should be. why is this even being debated? they have had this name since the very first super bowl. now all of the sudden ESPN has 25 other citys they are trying to give it to. why did espn even have to start this? this is insulting to me as a packers fan. sure boston has had a lot of championships over the years but green bay is still titletown USA.

who do u think should get the award?

Update:

i dont care about how many titles boston or new york have. its just that we have been called titletown usa for over 40 years. ESPN is insulting us because they apparently dont think we deserve it. green bay will always be titletown. green bay has 12 championships in football alone.

ESPN thinks it can rewrite sports history. appoint trades & annoint champions. too bad they don't have any competition. because they think they are gods & are turning into the MTV of sports TV.

i'm not a Packer fan but that term needs to stay there.

Green Bay will always be known as Titletown USA. Since this is a ESPN thing, who really cares, it's just for TV. ESPN has to do something interesting, after all, it's the slowest part of the season with Baseball and NASCAR (both boring).

To answer your question, I think Chicago will be SportCenter Titletown USA...

Again, no disrespect on Green Bay, the original Titletown USA, just for TV purposes I think Chicago will get the title.

Hey even though I am a Cowboys fan and we have 5 Super Bowl titles some things should not be messed with. Green Bay is titletown USA. It has been that way for what at least 40 years. Some things should not be messed with, as they have with stood the test of time, what is next doing a poll on who should be called America's Team, even though it has been the Cowboys for over 30 years.

Look, I agree that Green Bay is Titletown as far as the Packers are concerned. After all, they did win the first and second Super Bowls, however, if you are looking at total titles in the sports world (football, baseball, basketball, etc.), then unfortunately it is either New York (based on the Yankees 26 World Series alone, over 1/4 of all World Series titles), or Boston with the Patriots, Celtics, Bruins, and Red Sox. Sorry, I really love the pack, but when looking at sheer numbers of sports titles, New York and Boston have it locked up. And by the way, I hate the Yankees and the Patriots so this is not a personal thing. I wish it was Washington DC.

    LOS ANGELES IS TITLETOWN ,,,,,

since 2000, los angeles teams have won 8 titles

5 by lakers, 1 la kings, 2 la galaxy, oh yeah just recently UCLA BASEBALL, and of course the hated USC trojans...but it's understandable that espn loves to jerk off the east coast cities.

Most of green bay's championship were before the superbowl era. The thing you must remember is that on espn they are concintrating on more sports than just Football. LA has titles in Basketball (college and NBA), Baseball, and NCAA football. Boston has championships in all sports. New York has more titles than any other city. But don't forget about Detriot (except for the lowly Lions). But I'll tell you who it won't be my home town of Sacramento

  • when someone says "Titletown", i think of Green Bay. Of course, they called themselves that and it probably just stuck.

Id guess right now , Boston would be but I dont really think its a title that needs to "rotate" or be moved each year. Let Green bay have and keep it...they deserve it.

and Sumdude, LSU's championships probably count for NOLA.

It's Green Bay. It's an insult to the Packer they're even doing this poll. Cowboys fans would be pretty p.o.'d if they decided to take a poll on a new America's Team. I don't think ESPN has enough creativity to come up with it's own nick names.
