Component Cable makes picture white?

Hi,

I recently bought an Samsung HDTV and connected my DVD player via Monster component cable. When i play my DVD's using a normal AV cable or S-video cable i get crisp picture and deeper blacks and great colour.

But when i connect my DVD player with Component cable. The picture becomes whiter and the picture no longer has Deeper black instead it looks like a white haze on the picture with dull colors?

Has any one experienced this before or am i missing some settings?

Check the settings of both your TV and your DVD player.

Using component, there are two commonly used "blacks" 0 IRE and 7.5 IRE. If there is a mismatch between DVD and the TV, blacks look either washed out or crashed.

On the DVD, under video, check if there is a "blacks on" or similar to get darker blacks. Same on the TV.

You may also need to simply adjust brightness/contrast for component input on your TV. Usually, every input can be adjusted independently from the others.

Are you sure you didn't mix up the two red cables? An incomplete picture means one of the plugs isn't working right.
