Car steering wheel, and car in general shakes while driving?
I have a 1993 Pontiac Grand Am GT 3.3L V6, and in the past year or so the ride of it has gotten really rough. When I'm driving even the speed limit it will constantly shake. Sometimes when I round a slight curve near my house, it will shake almost unbearably, then clear up somewhat but not completely. I know it's not the wheels that need balancing, they are fine, and I can't imagine that the tires would make it THAT bad. I have a power steering problem and need a new pump for it-- could that cause it to shake? I'm also pretty sure that i need new suspension all the way around (front and back) so maybe that's alot of the problem?? Please help me because i really love driving the car but the shaking is awful!

Try a front end alignment. Its about 50 dollars depending on where you go. Most places make you get new tires on the front if your tires are bad. Look at your tires and see if there is uneven wear. That means you need an alignment.

Alot of shops do free inspections for these sorts of things. I suggest you call around and find one and get it in. Sounds to me, if it shakes more when turning then clears up somewhat after the turn, you could have a hub bearing issue. Again, nobody can see your car over the internet, so you'd be better off taking it somewhere for the inspection where they can shake the front end down.

tires could cause this problem you decribed.what you might consider doing is jacking up the front of the car with the front weels about two inches off the ground get a friend to help and while one of you move the tire with hands on top and bottom of the tire rock the tire from top to bottom and see if there is any movement from the suspension parts ball joints bushings, ect..then place your hands in front and rear of the same tire and rock from front to rear and check for any movement from suspension parts ,ball joints, tie rod ends ,berrings, worn bushings.ect good luck

If your front brakes obviously have a problem, having someone drive the car won't tell that someone what's wrong with them. You need to return to the garage that installed the new brakes and have them remove the wheels and see if you've got brake fluid leaking onto the brake pads or some bolts have come loose etc.

to see if its the rotors go down the highway and hit the brakes and let go of the wheel if the wheel moves then the rotors are bad. these cars also had a arm bushing problems so I would have that checked.

well i dont know that much about cars, but if its not ur wheels then if you have the money to spend on what needs to be fixed then i suggest that u fix that and then hopefully it will clear up for good.... you know that that car isnt the newest thing out there and it would be a waste to put ALOT of money in it, when you can just buy a better used car

The suspension is shot, your tires are unbalanced, you have 2 different tires on the front, your steering column is going, the u joint is shot.........get to a mechanic before you can't steer at all.

You need to get it up on a hoist & check suspension.
One of those Jiffy Lube places should be able to spot it.
Worst case, your tie-rods may be going;-{ dangerous!

might be a broken belt/ crooked tread in one of your tires. lift it up and spin each tire, look for the tread wobbling back and forth as it turns.
