2002 Jeep grand Cherokee window?
Heard a pop in my passanger front window. The motor is still running but window won't come up. What is it? How much will this cost to replace and could I do it myself?

I just fixed my '01 yesterday. The motor drives a little spool with silver cable on it. In my case, the wire came off the spool and the window would not go back up. I had to buy the window regulator and motor. It was $109 from Napa. The dealer wanted $250 for the part and I'm guessing $150ish for labor. I did it in my garage in about 2 hours. If I had to do it again, it would probably take an hour or less. It's a pretty easy job. Google for a diagram of the door panel and it will show you exactly how to do it.

Ok, first off, your Jeep is 5 years old. I'd be willing to bet that it has some miles on it too. The window regulators do wear out, however, they are rather poor to begin with. It does happen. As far as a recall, don't count on it. Just be glad you don't have a newer Liberty (I've done 25 rear window regulators in the last week on them). The Liberty may end up with a recall on the rear window regulators, simply because they are having quantitative failures and quite frequently before the Jeeps even leave the dealership.
