How to discharge or carry out the rainwater from the pipeline trench prior to lowering it in?

I have a problem at the worksite, had started with the rain season when the rain poured down and filled the ditch completely with water. The owner insisted to drying all the rainwater in trench before lowering the pipeline in.

Our employer began to solve the problem with using unsufficent amounts of pumps, but the problem is after pump the water out of the trench; the rain coming back and pouring again and we must start from the start.

Please advise for:

1- Methods to dry the rainwater in the trench includes the previous method.

2- Protect the trench from the rainwater to back again to fill it.

Construct a mound on both sides of the trench with the excavated material. This will stop run off getting into the trench. Do the same at the ends or create dams within the trench to stop water running down.

If really bad put plastic sheeting over the trench held up by poles spanning between the mounds on either side.
