First time ear stretching?

I don't have pierced ears yet but I am gonna get them pierced soon. I do want to stretch them, but I'm not sure what gauge to start out with for the piercing and the first stretch. Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.

It depends on how you big you ask your piercer to go, most will do anything up to 10g so it's all your choice

From whatever you decide on you can use the little chart over here: http://wiki.bmezine.com/index.php/Gauge and see what your next step will be

Keep in mind that you'll need to wait at least 4-6 months (a year if they're gunned) before they're ready to stretch

    These are pretty useful too:

I would definitely wait until your ear piercings heal then stretch them because they can get infected in the process of stretching and doing that with open wounds is not a good idea. It can also lead to warped piercings or bumps/keloids.

After having waited for your piercings to heal, buy a stainless steel taper of your size, usually 18-16g to 10-8g, depending on where you go to buy them. Piercers discourage acrylic products because supposedly it carries more bacteria than the stainless steel would although I did not find this information out until after I stretched my ears so this is at your own risk as far as the material of your tapered jewelry. Be sure to buy a tube of KY jelly as a lubricant for the ears so you do not cause them to blow out. Good luck!

Get the piercer to pierce your ears the regular size,

wait until the piercing has completely healed.

Start stretching using an 18 gauge taper/stretching jewellery.

Every 3 weeks you go up a size in jewellery in order for the piercing to stretch,

if you have problems fitting the taper/jewellery in put some vaseline on the jewellery you;re trying to fit in the piercing hole.

    Happy Stretching :]

Depends on your ear, but try a 14 and work your way to a smaller one just watch to see if your ear is thinning at the bottom if so you should stop =]
