Problems with my older 56" Hitachi Projection TV?

The TV still turns on and works but the channel 3 and eject symbol show in a light gray color because of the kids leaving the VCR on for a while, also there is a slight miscoloration in one corner but it's only noticable when the TV is blue. Thanks in advance for any help you might have.

All I can say is "ouch". What you describe is "burn in". The faint images are most likely due to the phosphors where you see the images, being overheated and chemically changed so that they no longer glow as brightly as the surrounding areas. This is permanent and cannot be corrected without replacing the CRTs (picture tubes) that are affected. Hopefully not all three! but possible. Projection picture tubes are run hard and hot to achieve enough brightness and contrast and are very susceptible to burn in. As you will find those tubes are not cheap. It might be time to consider replacing it with an LCD set, which is nearly immune to burn in. Good luck.
