If Obama won, and George Bush refused to leave office, would conservatives support Bush?
Note than I in no way believe Bush would refuse to leave office. I think he's incompetent, not a dictator.
But if, in some bizarre scenario, George Bush declared "We can't let this country be governed by Barack Obama" and attempted to stay in power, is there an element in America that would support him?

Yes.

If President Bush had a good reason to declare a national emergency, he has a constitutional right to remain in office, which constitutionalists would agree to. I am sure that if Obama were elected, there would be a delegation of racists thanking their luck as to the time at which the emergency happened, and many of the rabid Bush supporters and the really nice people who want to give him a third chance would also back him on that.
All in all, yes. Many people would be in support of Bush's ascension to Marshal Commander (the official term for dictator), although probably not the majority of people. Likely the same figure (30%) as like Bush anyway, although it would not be entirely composed of that group.

He could stay in office if he declared "A State of Emergency" but he couldn't just REFUSE to go. He would need a better excuse than because Obama would be a bad president.
One likely scenario is another terrorist attack during the election. Bush could suspend the election and stay in office until he says its time.
I just hope he wouldn't try to pull anything like that....

It funny you have to make up things to even ask a question, but no i would not support Bush staying and I'm one of the 30% who still like him. We are for the Constitution more than you think.

Have you seen all of the ppl on YA that are still for president bush? This is just a small portion of the country, imagine all of the thousands of people that would help Bush keep Obama out of the office.

Funny how some people like to project republicans as anti-constitutionalists, when, in truth, they are the ones - historically - who've always been the exact opposite - constitutionalists and federalists.
Democrats, on the other hand, supported segregation and were against the constitution, comparably.
The vast majority of conservatives are still constitutionalists, federalists and libertarian. Stop pretending the whole party consists of the same bullshit people, when it does not.

I think Mr. Bush will be more than happy when his term ends and he can return to a quiet life on the ranch. At least I hope so.

Bush will not leave office. An attack on America in October will fix that for him alright. Just as the attacks of 9/11/01 made his presidency relevant and assured him of getting the war he wanted.
They've done it once, they'll do it again--Saudi passports; American planes.

Wouldn't it be more interesting and relevant to ask what will happen if Obama loses in November, but shows up on Inauguration Day insisting on being sworn in anyway? After all, he is the messiah.

As a 24/7 liberal I would support Bush's Ascension and Coronation

He would be physically removed from office.
Since conservatives tend to like rules i imagine they would look at him like he is an idiot and tell him to clean out his desk...
