In exactly the same manner that conservatives insist is no big deal.

Would the American right casually accept it?

Are they so naive they think Reagan, Bush the Elder and Bush the Lesser all made made spontaneous, off the cuff speeches without any notes at all?

All of the good conservatives were promising it would come out during the election.

Political comedian Rush Limbaugh directly said it would be revealed after the conventions were over.

So, one of the conservative boogeymen is George Soros?

Just what is the big deal about him? He came to this country with little, became wealthy (the American dream) and is now exercising the freedoms this great country grants him.

From hearing the way his name is tossed about by conservatives, you almost suspect they use his name to scare children -- "if you don't behave, George Soros will get you!"

During a speech on energy, John McCain supported nuclear power and said Americans should be more like the French in that regard, and then, making an obvious joke, said that Americans always want to be like the French.

The audience laughed it off as a joke. It got almost no media coverage because it was a one liner in a speech on policy. (The only place I heard it was on XM Radio's POTUS channel, which broadcasts full unedited speeches.)

But what if Obama had made the same statement? Would people consider it a funny joke, or would the right wing media constantly replay it, implying he meant it seriously, insisting that he's got some evil plan to make America into France?

And do the tires of his bus leave impressions of the words "Straight Talk Express"?

And if they did, wouldn't that be incredibly ironic in this case?

Conservatives, with their daily right wing talking points, are running around screaming that Obama wants everyone to learn French.

Well, despite the fact its a lie -- he just said its a good thing to stay in school and learn another language, with French being an example -- what is wrong with learning a foreign language?

Note than I in no way believe Bush would refuse to leave office. I think he's incompetent, not a dictator.

But if, in some bizarre scenario, George Bush declared "We can't let this country be governed by Barack Obama" and attempted to stay in power, is there an element in America that would support him?

His medical records have never been released, but its a well-known fact he suffered some serious wounds during a run-in with legal authorities.

He has never been seen wearing a flag pin.

He spent years studying at a religious school in the Middle East.

His answer to rising commodity prices is to give away bread and fish.

He would forgive America's enemies, and defend us by turning the other cheek.

He associates with prostitutes and adulterers.

His organization was touched by a financial scandal, leading to the suicide of one of his twelve closest advisors.

Would you vote for Him?

When he was at Harvard, he matriculated. Everyone that knew him then would agree with that.

Even today, on a daily basis, he masticates. Even while he's eating, right in front of his innocent little daughters.

He associates with thespians... even ones from Hollywood.

Okay, conservatives, one of your favorite mantras is that we shouldn't raise corporate taxes, because they'll just be passed on to the consumer.

By that logic, why not eliminate corporate taxes? Do you trust Exxon-Mobil to pass their savings on to you?

America is the most advanced country in the world. This is the country that put a man on the moon, cured polio, built the internet, invented thousands of devices that make modern life.

Why, then, do they think American is destined to fail if we try to implement any form of national health care? Even if it has problems it other countries, why do they think we can't do better?

Do they really think American can't do better than countries like Canada, Britain, Germany or even their favorite country to hate, France?

Why do they have so little faith in American exceptionalism?

Why do they hate America?

A major American corporation has bowed to pressure from critics and pulled an ad campaign because some people were offended by a fashion accessory the model wore in the ad.
