What is Obama said Americans should be more like the French?

During a speech on energy, John McCain supported nuclear power and said Americans should be more like the French in that regard, and then, making an obvious joke, said that Americans always want to be like the French.

The audience laughed it off as a joke. It got almost no media coverage because it was a one liner in a speech on policy. (The only place I heard it was on XM Radio's POTUS channel, which broadcasts full unedited speeches.)

But what if Obama had made the same statement? Would people consider it a funny joke, or would the right wing media constantly replay it, implying he meant it seriously, insisting that he's got some evil plan to make America into France?

If McCain went on to say he's embarrassed of America for not being like the french, that we should all learn french and don't worry about french immigrants learning English you should teach your kids french.

Yeah. McCain would have been ripped just as bad. But unlike Obama & his wife, McCain has always been proud of America, never embarrassed.

Last commentor made an excellent point. Why does Obama get three major news anchors fawning on him,yet McCain has visited 4 times as much,with not a note in a paper. Because the press is in the tank for Obama.

Now, as for your amazingly ridiculous "right wing media" comment...is this the same right wing media that is sending ANCHORS from the 3 major networks to wipe Obama's @$$ for him on his Middle East tour, while McCain's overseas trips have never rated an Anchor, let alone 3, and they gave almost no coverage to McCain, they are following Obama's every step.  

This "right wing media" has a love affair with Obama.  Anyone who claims that the media is right-wing is projecting, stupid, or lying.

Typical...you forgot that McCain would have had to say that everyone should learn another language while standing there ONLY KNOWING ENGLISH HIMSELF!

Obama does want us to be like the French. He wants Americans to blindy support increased taxes for universal health care. And that concept is tre' French.

Since France is moving away from socialism and moving toward capitalism I don't think he would say that.  It goes against his views.
