Why do Republicans think the teleprompter is unique to Democrats?

Are they so naive they think Reagan, Bush the Elder and Bush the Lesser all made made spontaneous, off the cuff speeches without any notes at all?

Update:

oh nooooooo, in classic conservative fashion, you didn't read the entire article you linked, in which it points out Bush used index cards when he didn't use a teleprompter.

And in any case, I'd rather have a President stay on script than make asinine declarations like "wanted dead or alive" -- how is that working out, anyway?

Haven’t you noticed – they’ve run out of substantive attacks, so now they’re becoming the party of “maturity” and are picking at any and everything that is related to Obama. The teleprompter rant is old and just plain silly. They think it’s still an insult, when really it just makes the person saying it look petty.

Cause they are childish. And also, because obama is doing such a great job they have nothing to attack him on except his using mustard and using a teleprompter and mis-quoting the number of states. Do you think you can work 16 hours a day for a year and memorize hundreds of speechs and still speak perfectly from memory each time? No. Nobody can. Nixon had to look down at his notes every 2 seconds for a short 2 minute speech such as his resignation speech. Reagan lived with his teleprompter. Bush couldn't even speak with a teleprompter. They are childish losers.

They still won't admit that Reagan was simply reading scripts for his entire Presidency. I do know that Bush Jr. couldn't read, so they only used the teleprompters for show when he was speaking.

lmao,,,you haven't been paying to much attention to his speeches...

you must of been reading people's rants about it and made your own judgment.

thing is, Obama can read the teleprompter very well,,BUT the moment its gone..he can't put two words together, he stumbles, and he skips over what he wants to say...he does not have notes in front of him like the way Bush did, as you can say Obama goes with the flow...

and that's not how you do a speech

Kind of humorous to think Bush was reading from a teleprompter. Maybe Bush was a literary genius and it was his speech writer that was an idiot.....lol

Because Obama relies on it more then any other president before him.

Obama’s reliance on the teleprompter is unusual — not only because he is famous for his oratory, but because no other president has used one so consistently and at so many events, large and small.

  • We don't. But for Obama to be so dependent on it - more so than Reagan or either Bush - is noteworthy, especially since he was touted as such a gifted speaker.

When Obama makes jokes himself about the teleprompter and his dependence upon it, what does that tell you?

Its not, but your elect cant say anything on what he believes or lies about without it maybe he should of took many classes on giving speeches like toast masters

Republicans suffer from mass amnesia, they forgot the last eight years ever happened, let alone the last twenty
