Free range means it is free to roam around. As apposed to some farms where the animals are confined to small area. Free range animals are healthier and usually contain less fat.

Orgainc chicken is chicken that has not been fed anything with chemicals or given steroids. It's diet is organic. This means there will be no chemicals in the chicken.

    Free range organic is both.

That depends. Are they free range or "free range?"

The regulations governing the label "free range" are very loose, with lots of loopholes, so technically, many so-called free-range chickens never set foot outside, but are kept by the thousands or tens of thousands in a huge, warehouse-like building that might have one small door going to a tiny outside run with a cement bottom. Is this better than being crammed into tiny battery cages? Definitely. Is it what people think they're supporting when they buy "free-range" chicken products? Not at all.

On animal products, the "Organic" label refers more to their diet and health care than their living conditions (it often has similar loopholes as the free-range label). It means that the birds eat organically produced grain and aren't routinely fed antibiotics or hormones, as most conventionally produced birds are.

A better alternative is to buy eggs and meat from local farmers, so you can see for yourself if the chickens ever really see the light of day. Eggs and meat from genuinely free range chickens have many health benefits, including much higher Omega-3 levels, in addition to being more humane for the birds. There are some good directories you can use as a starting point here:

    The Short Answer:

Free Range is good. Organic is better. Free-Range Organic is best!

    The Long Answer:

It really depends on where you live. Organic can mean different things to different people. Generally in the US to be certified organic the items (eggs, vegetables, meat, etc.) must meet certain conditions including not using un-natural pesticides or un-natural fertilizers, must be non-genetically modified (GMO), etc.

Free range means the chickens are allowed to roam and eat what they can find including plants, bugs, worms, etc.

So technically you could have chickens that are stuck in a cage to get fat and fed "organic" feed and not be as healthy. I would choose the happy healthy chickens who were able to eat a balanced diet and get good exercise. That translates to better more nourishing eggs for you and me.
