Does German mean Nazi?
You may have heard that Max Mosely is in court this week, suing the News of the World after they alleged that he took part in a 'Nazi style' orgy. Their claims seem to be based on the point that because Max was speaking German, so it must have been a Nazi fantasy, rather than just kinky sex spoken in German.
Surely in this day and age we have grown out of thinking that everything German is Nazi, or does that still ring true...

in 'tabloidspeek'
german = 'nazi'
sex = 'sleazy'
uncommon = 'weird'
and anything that would make a 70 yr old spinster exclaim "oh dear!" is 'shocking and depraved'

No, I think Nazi only meant Nationalist party. They had some unfortunate beliefs about Jews, gays and people who were not of Irina descent - tall, blond, blue eyed. How Hitler a short, brown haired (brown eyed?) Austrian got round this I don't know. German just means someone who came from Germany, for example Otto Frank - Anne Frank's father.
People should realise that German doesn't equal Nazi but it is hard to shift ideas.

I think that this is more to do with the state of the tabloid press in the UK, and the political agenda of the News of The World.
The more hyperbole they can generate around a story, the more papers the News of The World can sell, and using the word ' Nazi' is far more emotive than using the word 'German' - it also doesn't help that it's Max Mosely they're talking about considering that his father, Oswald, was the founder of the British League of Facists during WWII

No German is a nationality. Nazi was a political party and now denotes a group of racists.

No. But I think they've said 'Nazi' because of his father (Sir Oswald Mosley, British Union of Fascists). So he will always be associated with Nazism.

German does not mean Nazi, in the same way that 'British' does not neccessarily mean 'Labour', or 'American' meaning 'Republican'.
However, we don't know all the facts in the Mosely case, so who knows what he was getting up to? But if it was behind closed doors and didn't hurt anyone. whass the big deal anyway?

Kraftwerk are not Nazis, neither is Boris Becker. As someone stated, that´s more (British) Sunday paper language for the dozy.

no, but Nazi's come from Germany

The vast majority of Germans hate Nazism just as much as the rest of us.
