Church and Secular Private School Mergers?

There seems to such a strong case for private education that I am curious to know if church based and secular private schools have begun to merge to realize "economies of scale?" The answers on Yahoo overwhelming voted for private over public secondary education for reasons that most parents who responded hold in common. Have there been any successful mergers of church and secular private schools? The topic is interesting to me because I think the private trend will grow as the public school system becomes more incompetent in its mission of producing educated and civilized young adults. Private schools are such a refreshing and reassuring learning enviornment. It is in this context that I ask my question about cooperation across any possible secular-church divide in the philosophy of teaching and training young people.

I do not believe that there will be such a merger/. Parochial schools are sponsored by a church or synagogue and three agenda includes a strong religious orientation and teaching. As such they would loose their religious identity with a merger/

There is a very good secular K-12 preparatory school in my town, as well as a 3 or 4 Christian schools. As a student of Christian schools from K through 8th and wife of a former Christian High School science teacher, I can tell you that indoctrination is the least of your worries. Most of these places are so worried about retaining the students that they tend to either ignore or gloss over their faith entirely, except for maybe a weekly chapel or a morning Bible reading. Christian schools are dumping grounds for students expelled from public schools. They are also full of privileged, entitled kids who have lots of cash to put toward drugs and parents who call and accuse the teachers of impropriety or unprofessionalism when their slacker idiots get B's. My brother got into gang activity and drugs at his Christian high school. A lot of times, the education is sub-par while the tuition is sky high because the school is privately funded and underpays the teachers (which tend to be either the bottom of the barrel or starry-eyed new teachers who quit teaching forever after a year in the school). My best friend and I periodically discuss out time in Christian school to help each other work through the memories. I'd advise you to either home school (safest and best option for any child) or find a prep school with a great reputation, even if it's a town or two over and wickedly expensive.
