Will the Red Sox make a move before the trading deadline?
I still think that they may need to strengthen their relief pitching, even if Masterson does come back to pitch in that role. I'm also worried if, when Ortiz returns, he isn't himself and struggles for a lengthy period of time. There have been rumors, which were also reported by Hall of Fame member Peter Gammons, that the Red Sox are at least a little interested in Barry Bonds. I personally wouldn't like to see this happen for obvious reasons, including the fact that he has legal trouble and we don't know when he'll be able to play at all! What do you think the Red Sox will do, in the free agent market or the trading market?

Sox management has confirmed that they are not trying to get bonds. moreover, schilling will never allow the sox to get bonds; remember how he railed on him last year on his blogsite? not gonna happen. Better to bring Chris Carter or maybe even Lars Anderson for a short period of time to hit while Ortiz is gone.
As for the bullpen situation, i think management might have learned a lesson from last year, when they gave away gabbard, whos been a decent starter, and murphy, who has double digit HRs for Eric ******* Gagne. I'd say that Bowden might make his way up to the rotation, or as a long reliever (unlikely, but then again, masterson will be sent to the pen, who knows?) and dan bard might come up as well.

I think the Red Sox will (or need to) make a move twards another good/solid relief pitcher to get us through the game, because that has been a weak spot of ours in the past couple weeks. I also agree that the Red Sox still need to keep their eyes opened for another heavy hitter because, so far Ortiz's recovery is coming along perfectly as planned (cross your fingers!), but that could change in an instant, so they need to be careful int that aspect. Also, as you said, What if Ortiz doesnt play like he usually does when he comes back???.... that would be another reason to look.....I also would not like to see Bonds come to Boston. There is too much negative publicity that comes with Bonds that the Red Sox need to probably stay clear of, because Im pretty sure that up to this point, the Red Sox have a pretty good reputation with good and clean players that dont get into legal trouble. Im not quite sure about where they would go to find a good heavy hitter to replace Ortiz if something bad were to happen, because honestly, I i havent paid much attention to who is free in both categories, because im really banking on the fact that Ortiz will be coming back. He has shown a good recovery process so far, and im not too worried about him, but i definitly think the sox need to keep their eyes opened just in case.

Bonds is just hype, I don't think the Sox would ever take him. They know he has a lot of trouble with his joints with all those bone fragments, etc. Besides that, he is the antithisis of what that team means, and they KNOW that.
I am hoping upon HOPE that Lugo is gone.

They might make a move. The Red Sox are always looking for players that will make their team better.

If i was Theo i would most likely trade Lugo for maybe a relief pitcher or backup position player. I would then call up Lowrie and make him the every day SS

im a life-long red sox fan and would never dream of rooting for anyone else but if they got bonds i might stop watching/rooting all together. and they may be hesitant to not jump into another "gange" situation

Maybe a power veteran like bonds who can fill papi's place for the time being. I don't think they'll pursue any starting pitching, but if anything they might sign a veteran reliever.

I evaluate the pink Sox will (or might desire to) make a pass twards one extra nicely/forged relief pitcher to get us with the help of way of the sport, in view that that has been a vulnerable spot of ours in the past couple weeks. I additionally agree that the pink Sox in spite of the actuality that could desire to maintain their eyes opened for an extra heavy hitter in view that, as much as now Ortiz's restoration is coming alongside completely as planned (bypass your palms!), in spite of if that could desire to difference in an instantaneous, so as that they might desire to observe out int that component. additionally, as you pronounced, What if Ortiz doesnt play like he oftentimes does at the same time as he comes returned???.... that could desire to be one extra motive to look.....I additionally might desire to now not go with to work out Bonds come to Boston. there is too much unfavorable exposure that incorporates Bonds that the pink Sox might desire to quite oftentimes save sparkling of, in view that Im attractive particular that as much as this component, the pink Sox have a surprising nicely attractiveness with nicely and sparkling gamers that dont get into authorized seize 22 concern. Im now not particularly particular approximately wherein they might pass to locate a nicely heavy hitter to regulate Ortiz if something risky were to take place, in view that quite, I i havent paid lots concentration to who's loose in each and each training, in view that im extremely banking on the actuality that Ortiz might desire to be coming returned. He has shown a nicely restoration technique as much as now, and im now not too in touch approximately him, in spite of if i definitly evaluate the sox might desire to maintain their eyes opened merely in case.
