You don't need such a key.

Do like me and roam on another's connection for free :-)

Its asking you for the WEP key and if the router your using was given to you by the provider then it will probably be on the bottom or side of the device. If you have a Linksys router then in your address bar type 192.168.1.1 and it will ask you for a username and password. Leave the username field blank and type in admin for the password. The WEP key will be listed under Security somewhere. You will have to do this from another computer however as your new one doesn't have access to the network and therefor would have no router access either.

Its asking you becuase it is not stored on the one computer while your wireless software is storing it on the other, or the router is seeing your MAC adress as new each time.

First Check you settings make sure your card is compatable, your security settings are the same, and make sure its taking the right key.

For example if the praphrase is "hello" on WEP 64-bit Security there can be several keys, the router does not always use key 1, and when it ask your for the key make sure you putting in the key not the praphrase. keys usually look like this:

    "1FFC470F"

Is this your network or did someone set it up?

Without a Security Key you won't be able to access that specific network.

Encryption is not your security key, although your security can be encrypted.

I think you have to go to your router's settings and click on add a device, then it will goive you the encryption key, a long code consisting of numbers and letters. Then you input that code in your laptop and it should give you access.

Yes the encryption key is the security web key. Depending on your provider or when you set it mup you might ned to support.

If you are the ONLY computer on the network, go into you router config page and set a new one. Then you can use the same new key in the new laptop.

http://192.168.0.1/ should get you into config.
