My wife has Stage IV kidney cancer, she was diagnosed in Oct.2003.It's a tough fight but she is doing well.My advice would be to listen to his Doctors and do your homework.Learn as much as you can and be pro-active in his treatment options

It really depends on what stage the cancer is in. Most people overcome cancer if it is caught early enough, or if they have a good reaction to treatment. It can also depend on the age of the person, and if they have any other illnesses (like diabetes, etc.). My grandma passed away from cancer in '06, but she was 72 at the time and had Diabetes on top of it.
My sister in law, however, had Leukemia at age 9, and by age 12 was in remission. She's been cancer free for 21 years now. So don't freak out. Just be calm, be there for him, and let him know that no matter what the outcome is, you'll be there for love and support.
I hope he comes through it OK. I'll be sending good thoughts your way! =)

My father died of cancer 6 years ago at the age of 55. The best advice that I can give you is to take it one day at a time. Until you know for certain that it is cancer try to keep positive and enjoy the time that you have with family. You just can't prepare yourself for a cancer diagnosis. No matter how ready you and your family think that you are it will hit like a ton of bricks. Pull together and support each other in a positive way. I wish you and your family all the best. My thoughts are with you.

Your whole family will be in my prayers. Kidney cancer is easier to overcome than many of the others so I think the chances would be good. My mom had a birth defect and has lived her whole life with 1 kidney.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.
They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!
This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.
It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.

I don't know much about cancer but you and your family and especially your dad will be in my prayers. Also, try not to worry to much until you get the results back and know for sure what it is.
