The Tax Credit office didn't receive my claim form.?
I sent my form for tax credits (it will only be Child Tax Credit) but they say they did not receive it.
It was not sent by recorded delivery (just in their envelope so they don't want you to do this) but have a scan of the original form and date and time of postage (for what that's worth).
I am disputing this but where do I stand?
As I said to them they could easily say that they don't receive forms and so the person is not entitled to any payments.
As I also said, I did not give away my children for that tax year and then take them back!
Another ridiculous government mess!!
I forgot to say that this is for 2006-07 and that is why there is a dispute- because the time limit (for them to receive the form) has expired.
This is despite a few letters and many telephone calls trying to sort it out.

Unfortunately all you can do is make a new claim and ask for it to be backdated 3 months (the maximum allowed) due to these circumstances. The only time a late claim/missing claim is accepted is when there has been a postal strike.

Well just ring them up and give all the details over the phone. That is how I do it. I then make sure I write down who I spoke to on what date and at what time.
Sadly things do get lost in the post and you should not be blaming them. They cannot chase up every person when they do not receive their forms. That would mean that they could be having to contact thousands of people.
I have never had any problems with them and I am sure that you can get this sorted

tell them to either send you out another copy as they dont have to be in till the 31st of july so u still have plenty of time you can ring them up and do it over the phone well thats what they tell you anyway they aslo say you can do it online but never done it like this i have always had mine in by june so that i know if there is going to be a mess up i have plenty of time to re do it just send them a copy of the one you have i just sent my tax credit in post not recoreded and mine have also got there in time thank god
i know the govement is a farse and they do keep losing things you would think they would get better orginased with the amount of misshaps they have

Well, things do go missing in the post. As you wisely kept a copy, send them another copy - keep your "backup copy".
