  • Does anyone know which song this is?'?

I heard a song sung by a female with acoustic guitar, she was good soft rock / folk style and I don't know what it is. The words went something like:

The look about that morning sun, how can it get me done.

    Any ideas anyone?

  • Should a flat with a 77 year lease have a reduced price?

It was originally a 99 year lease. The price is good (but mainly because they need to sell) and I don't know about costs / possibilities of extending the lease.

  • A shower pump that turns on for no reason.?

We recently had a new (B & Q) shower pump fitted next to our water tank to send water to the shower which is abvout six feet away. The shower works OK but *increasingly) the pump is turning on for a few seconds when hot water is run off at a different point (like the kitchen).

    Why is it doing this?

It may have something to do with some sort of lack of a thermostat for the hot water (apparently).

  • How much insurance are Saracens likely to have paid against the £250,000 kick?

How much would Saracens have paid to insure against the £250,000 cross-bar hitting kick by Stuart Tinner at Wembley last tuesday?

(Probably a £100,000 excess knowing insurance companies!)

  • The cost of converting a freehold property to leasehold?

What is the cost of changing a freehold house converted into two flats to two leasehold flats. In addition, to save money, is there any of the work that can be done myself before the solicitors start their part?

  • Is there any way that rents collected can NOT be classed as unearned income?

I have a few properties rented out as my sole source of income, run as a business, and spend a fair time on it- either at home or sometimes at the properties.

If 'unearned income' is classed as income for services (or in advance of what is being paid for) then surely this is not unearned income.

As a self employment business I put in my time to keep it managed and on the rails so can it be classed as earned income?

Of course there would be National Insurance payments then but also, as it is being classed as a business, no Capital Gains Tax to pay on a sale.

  • Unwanted shower purchased because of bad plumber?

Any ideas what I can do (and it is fair to do) due to a problem with a plumber.

He has been around a long time and, because of that, he tends not to read instructiions or do anything that he wasn't doing thirty tears ago (like testing water pressure with a meter). Because of this, when he fitted a shower, he changed the diameter of a pipe and it was useless. He then said we had to buy another sort of shower (Trevi Boost which increases water flow by using mains cold water). This was fitted and no good as he had not read what diameter pipe (22mm rather than 15mm I think) was essential to make it work.

So, for a second time, the shower had to be removed (along with all tiling etc).

He then refitted the first one and fitted a pump and it now works alright. This is despite our original request for a pump which he said would not work.

We are due to get his bill which will be quite high as he spent a lot of extra time due to his mistakes. In addition we have the Trevi shower which we paid nearly £300 for (if anyone wants to buy it way so!).

As an extra problem he is someone I have known for a long time and come in contact with a lot at the rugby club so I am reluctant to cause a huge fuss.

He also seems to think (due to owning another property) that we have plenty of money.

  • How can I stop unwanted windows opening which are controlled by 'Bignetdaddy'?

  • Connecting an iPod to a wireless network?

I have a Netgear DG834G router and when I try to connect a new iPod Touch I am asked for a password.

I assume this is the security one on the router which is WPA.

The password does not work and I've tried all other possibilities so I don't know what to do.

    Any help?

  • My monitor screen is blank.?

After flashing on and off while operating over a few days the screen is now blank and I can't get anything to show.

I assume it is the hard drive. It isn't the monitor as I swapped another one one earlier and had the same problem.

Is there anything I can do to get some of the data on the hard drive?

  • Strength of passwords?

This question is only for curiosity and fun!

You have a computer that puts together letters and numbers to make passwords and then enters them to get into a secure site. This site has a fault in that it allows repeated attempts at the password.

How long would it be possible to find the password if it was:

    a) a word of six letters

    b) a mixture of 4 letters and 4 numbers

    c) a mixture of 15 letters.

  • Positions of TV Channels?

Can anyone tell me how to return my TV channels to the usual positions (i.e. BBC 1 in position 1 and so on). At the moment BBC1 is on channel 814 and other channels are also over 800.

Some have stayed in the old positions.

I have tried scanning, expecting the channels to be returned to their usual positions, but this hasn't worked.

  • The Tax Credit office didn't receive my claim form.?

I sent my form for tax credits (it will only be Child Tax Credit) but they say they did not receive it.

It was not sent by recorded delivery (just in their envelope so they don't want you to do this) but have a scan of the original form and date and time of postage (for what that's worth).

I am disputing this but where do I stand?

As I said to them they could easily say that they don't receive forms and so the person is not entitled to any payments.

As I also said, I did not give away my children for that tax year and then take them back!

    Another ridiculous government mess!!

  • I need a 10 volt AC/DC transformer.?

I need a mains to iPod docking station lead but I can't find one-Comet tell me they don't sell Protech spares but I can't find Protech anywhere.

The input voltage is 10 volts and I have a variable transformer but it (like they all seem to) does not have a 10 volt slot- either 9 or 12. The 9 doesn't work. Should I try the 12 volt or will it damage the dock?

Does anyone know where I can find Protech or a suitable transformer (with changeable ends)?

  • Two bar tariffs- is it legal?

I was recently in the Central bar/pub in Newquay and they asked me to confirm that I was a local (obviously assuming I was). The prices were cheaper for the locals.

I would imagine their displayed tariff was the more expensive one.

Surely this can't be legal in the UK.?

  • Insuring a let property?

I rent out a couple of flats and they are obviously insured. I realise that a property not in a good enough state of repair would not be covered but one flat is about 150 years old.

What concerns me is a situation where, for example, a piece of ceiling falls onto the person below and injures them. Surely the insurance company can simply say that it was wear and tear and would not pay up. I assume this could involve many thousands of pounds which I couldn't afford. I would be interested to now how the law stands on this.

Is there any way to insure against the very unlikely, but still possible, injury to people (not the property itself)?
