this is how my grandma used to make sweet tea when I was a kid.....this will make one gallon

boil a couple quarts of water in a sauce pan with a tight fitting lid. When water boils, remove pan from heat, add 10 regular size tea bags, replace lid and let steep for about an hour. Add 2 cups sugar to your gallon pitcher, remove tea bags from pan, add the tea to the pitcher, dissolve the sugar, add ice and water to fill the gallon pitcher. There you have sweet tea. Enjoy!

I don't know about everybody else, but here in North Carolina we do it like this: two family size tea bags two quarts water 2 cups of granulated sugar Add the tea bags to the water and boil. Just as it comes to a boil real well then take it off of the stove. Put 4 cups of very hot tap water in a gallon container and add the 2 cups of sugar. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. Then add the pot of boiled tea, holding back the tea bags with a wooden spoon. Stir well and top off with ice cubes or cold water. That's good old Southern sweet tea

It is actually very easy to make. To make 2 quarts of sweet iced tea, start with 4 or 5 tea bags. First, heat about 2 to 4 cups of water just until boiling, then remove from heat. Place the tea bags in the water and cover for a few minutes to steep the tea. Remove the bags and discard. Add 1/2 to 1 cup of sugar (to your taste) to the warm tea and stir to dissolve the sugar thoroughly. Place some ice cubes in a pitcher, pour in the tea, then add enough cool water to fill up the pitcher.

No matter what anyone says, you just can't dissolve sugar in cold tea... lol. This is the best - enjoy!

    Tea

Take a cup of water, bring it to boil. When it starts boiling really well, turn off the heat, drop ONE tea bag in, cover and let steep for at least 20 minutes. Then, take this concentrated liquid, Pour into a 2 qt. pitcher, fill the rest up with cold water.

If you have a tea maker, put ONE tea bag in and turn on. Cooling it with ice fast will make the flavor really come out. The end result will be a much lighter colored tea, but full of flavor.

    Sun Tea

Take a gallon sun tea container and put in two tea bags, fill up the jar. Let sit all day in the sun.

Try some mint iced tea sometime.

Make strawberry or raspberry iced tea using a similar method.

Boil about 2 to 3 cups of water. Once it comes to a boil remove the pot and add two of your favorite tea bags, let it steep for about 25 to 30 mins. Add it to a gallon of water and then use about 1 cup of sugar then if it's not sweet enough add a 1/4 of cup until it get to the right sweetness.

Brew your tea - either in a tea maker, in a coffee pot or on the stove. In the tea maker, I put my sugar in the container with the ice so that it is there when the hot water comes through -- it mixes well while hot and then you don't have to add sugar to your tea when you pour it out of the frige. You may also use sweet and low instead of sugar. I use 7 or 8 teabags and 4 - 5 packs of sweet / low -- how much sugar depends on your taste buds. Dang - now I have to go home and make some.

In a one-gallon pitcher, add two cups of sugar. Stir in two quarts of boiling water. Add 10 tea bags (I have tried generic tea bags & it's no where near as good-so I always stick to Lipton tea). Let them brew 10-15 minutes, then drain them & throw them away. Add two quarts of cold water & stir. Serve over ice. (It always tastes best after it has been refrigerated & then is served over ice!)

P.S. - If you don't have a one-gallon pitcher, you could always make two quarts & just cut all of the ingredients in half!
