Will my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee take the new E85 gas?

It has a straight line 6 cy engine, if that helps. Thanks....

No it won't. And unlike is commonly believed, E85 will NOT save you money. It may cost less per gallon, but it has 30% less power than straight gasoline and about 30% lower gas mileage as well. The savings just isn't there.

If the 8th character of the VIN number is an "N".

If the 8th character of the VIN is not "N", don't try it. You will have some expensive mechanical issues.

There are many Chrysler / Jeep products that are flex fuel capable. They just don't make a big deal about it for some reason.

See the link below for a complete list

Something else that I have been hearing about. If you have a flex fuel vehicle and haven't used E85 for a few years, you may want to change the fuel filter after the first tank of E85. E85 acts like a solvent in the fuel system. It will clean all of the sludge in your fuel tank and fuel system. This will be caught by the fuel filter and plug the filter. So if you have any issues after using E85, look to the fuel filter for the problem.

Check your owner's manual - it will definitely specify it in there.

However, odds are that Jeep doesn't recommend using E85

    NO!

If you had a flex fuel vehicle you would know it (a tiny fraction of less than a percent of vehicles take flex fuel).
