i will be using a silicone sealant for my stove fitting.?

it won't be subject to heat . its just that the gas passages are sealed by that sealant. is it safe to use it? thanks !!

    Go to the plumbing section and get the yellow Teflon tape for gas pipe.....Cost is less than a dollar.....

    There is a special sealant for gas connections. It looks like a yellow pipe dope. I don't think it's silicone base. It's sold at Home Depot and Lowe's. I thing I would use that instead.

    Better to use the right pipe compound or teflon tape ( yellow for gas) on the fittings.

    Either is inexpensive & the compounds & tape are marked "for gas fittings"

    I would call your local gas supplier and ask this question. I would personally ask a professional as to the hazardous nature of this work. Good luck!
