I don't have an AGP slot but in its place is a long slim connector. What is it?

I am wanting to install a video card in a "newish"computer. I was surprised to see I have no AGP connector. In its place is a long slim connector that I've never seen before. Does this mean I will have to go to a PCI video card for an up grade, or is there some type of video card that plugs into that strange connector?

Thanks!

PCI slots, usually white and have a notch in the back end of the slot.

PCI express slot, can range in size from 1x to 16x. The 16x usually have a clip for the PCIe card.

On the motherboard there is a number with a version . Do a Google search with that number. Once you know who made your motherboard from the Google search, go to the motherboard manufacturer's web site and download the manual from their support section. The manual should explain what that long slot is meant for and also any other info you need to know.
