my daughter leaving nursery after 4 years to go to school.i want to buy the staff somethin any ideas?

Giftcards or I love the lunch idea. Do NOT do a "photo" gift. I've got hundreds of cute photo type gifts over the years. It's not original.

I have taught Nursery and Preschool and I must say, "Do not get any "teacher" gifts!! Photos are nice, but your child will be leaving them.

And since you want to do something just for the TEACHERS, I would recommend maybe stopping at Panera and picking up some bagels, cream cheese, pastries they can enjoy on breaks or catering in some lunch maybe. I can't tell you how many times I've missed meals due to the busyness of working with kids all day and some nice parent treated us to a meal!

A gift basket with goodies in it to be shared is nice, too. Then you don't have to worry about someone feeling like they got less of a personal gift than someone else.

Get a kit that you can put her handprints and footprints in the plaster, and then wall mount it. I am sorry but I cannot remember what they are called, but they are really easy to do. You could also save an acre of rain forest in Honor of the staff, or adopt a zoo animal or a wild animal.(look on the world wildlife fund website, that should get you to the link) You could plant a tree. Try a pottery shop that lets you paint your own piece of pottery, and let her pick out something she can paint for them. A photo of her would be nice. Have her make up a story about the staff, print it off, add pictures and make it into a picture book for them. I just went to wwf's website and it is www.wwf.org, and they do have adoption services. -A nice photo card-I love having photos of my children to look at in years to come-I have one that is a card where on the front is a photo, inside a handprint and a little poem saying thank you! I got it 3 years old ago and its still on my desk!

-Pottery places where you can make mugs and things that you decorate yourself...its personal!

-A book for the setting-buy a new book with a little message inside. That way its a present to setting rather than buying it per teacher! Also its nice for setting as books are quite expensive alongside everything else we have to buy!

-Something like a cute 'teacher' teddy that can go in the staff area! Maybe you can make a ribbon to go around it with childs name.

Great question. Here is something I did for my daughter who is going on to Pre-K this August 08'. I can't wait to see the look on the teachers faces she has grown with in the last 4 years.

Ok you will need to gather as many photos of activities, candid shots, playtime, nap photos, themed days, family photos and any photos showing her growth and changes she has expereinced.

Basically what you will be doing is building a collage with a "road map" look to it using different matirials to make it coloful and fun. Putting the photos in somewhat of a hitorical sequence you map out different times in your child's upbringing and life using little clips of art projects he or she has made while in daycare including photos of the particuler teacher inset into the projects also adding little ballon "blurbs" or quotes that you know make up your childs and or teachers persona's.

the end will be a little saying that will read something like this. "This is the not the end but the beginning of my new journey into life and what it has to offer. Thank you to my teachers and everyone who loves me! I adore you all! "

You can obviously change whatever suits your tastes, but the basics are a good sized piece of cardstock or construction paper, scissiors, artists glue, and plenty of imgination.

You should give her teachers something and the general staff a joint gift. You could give her teachers gift cards or a prepaid credit card it can be for like 20 bucks and the staff a fruit basket or something like that. Hope it helps.

Gift cards to a book store are always nice. I once had a parent give me a gift card to a grocery store which seemed a little weird at first, but was very practical in the end! whatever you do, do NOT give them lotion from the Bath stores, every teacher has a million of them!!!

If the nursery has a garden, yuo could buy a really pretty tree/flowers for them to put in it, it will bring colour to the place and every time they see it they will be reminded of your daughter, and your gratitude.

I own a childcare centre....a really nice thing to do would be to get lunch order in and to send a really heart felt card expressing your appreciation. There's also a cool company called Edible Arrangements...(Toronto area..it's lots of fruit on sticks and looks like a flower arrangement.)

go to an arts and crafts store and buy some supplies so you and your daughter can make something special. Those are the best gifts anyway!
