What to give my wife for our 5th wedding anniversary?

Our 5th wedding anniversary is coming up, and the past 4 years I've given my wife a card (except for one year, I didn't make it to the store - oops - can we say "dog house"). Anyways, she always seems dissapointed, so I want to do something beyond the card thing I guess for our 5th. I read that the "traditional" gift is wood or silverware - well, we have no reason to have silverware, and we already have clocks and don't have any room for more furniture and she hates knick knacks because she's kinda one of those neat freaks who hates clutter and I guess knick knacks = clutter in her book, and she's not too crazy about going out to eat because she's a fitness guru. Anyways, any suggestions? I am absolutely dreading this - it just isn't my thing - not to sound like a jerk, but a card feels like a huge leap some years.... any ideas?

Also, we have 2 kids and no one who would be willing to watch them for more than an hour or two, so any extended absense wouldn't work. Thanks. :)

How bout some landscaping service or a tree that you can plant together?

Does she hate clutter b/c there is no room? In that case bookshelves in the laundry room or an entertainment center that can hide it all so she doesn't have to see the clutter?

What do the two of you like to do together? You said an extended trip was out of the question but what about a non-extended trip? Just a weekend get away.

Frame a favorite picture. Built the kids a tree house to get them out of her hair. Refinish the hardwood floors. Build a fence or a deck.

I got a jewelry armoir for my anniversary so that I could get rid of the tons of little jewelry boxes that didn't hold everything. Custom closet so that she has shelves that fit what she needs. One of those incredible hutches that hang over your kitchen island that you can hang copper pans off of. If you pay attention and have the kids ask a few questions you'll discover there is something that drives her crazy--something that she wants fixed so badly. Even if it's merely the fact that she hates not having a space for her spices and the fact that they sit all over her counter.

5 Year Anniversary Gifts For Her

  • 1 decade ago

Well, if she likes fitness maybe there's a new excersise machine she might like? Or how about a membership or gift certificate to a health spa?

Another idea is a ring with an inlay of wood, If you google "wooden inlay wedding rings" there are a ton that come up.

For our fifth anniversery me and my other half are planning a nice trip together.

Or you could always break down and ask her. Something like " Honey, I want to make this anniversary really special. Is there anything in peticular you would like?" Personally I always appreciate being asked questions like that and maybe she has a really good idea.

I also wanted to do something a little special for my 5th wedding anniversary. I found a designer that makes beautiful wood jewelry - Liel and Lentz. I bought my wife a great necklace off their website called "The Waltz" and my wife absolutely loves it. A very special gift and reminder of our 5 years together. Check out their website, I believe there is men's jewelry as well. www.lielandlentz.com

I think it's really nice that you want to do something special for your wife. My husband and I just celebrated our "wood" anniversary. I really like wine, so he got me 6 bottles of wine that was all aged in oak barrels (see the wood connection???). The woman at the local wine store helped him pick out the bottles.

If wine's not her thing, then I would recommend you get her a gift certificate for an hour long massage or a day of pampering (massage, facial, pedicure, manicure) at a nice local salon. Ask one of her friends for a recommendation.

On top of that, after the kiddos go to bed, cook her favorite meal and write her a heartfelt note about why she's a great partner.

Wow.... are you my husband's long lost twin brother? hahaha - just kidding - you sound just like him! I'm lucky if he remembers a card! lol!

Let me help ya out a little here:

    - Buy a card, but put one of the following in it:

    - concert tickets

    - movie tickets

Or, maybe take her out for a walk at a lake.

Don't know what your budget is, but what about a nice necklace that she can wear, or an eternity ring, or a 3 stone or 5 stone anniversary band?

    Just some ideas... :)

Great idea for an anniversary gift! A wedding dress sketch. You email them some photos and they create a perfect piece of art. Really amazing work! www.mydreamlines.com

  • Does she like jewelry? What about an anniversary ring for her right hand.. or another band for her wedding ring. Or a simple necklace or bracelet.. those don't cause any clutter...
