metal/hardcore fans...what band got you into metal?

It was SLAYER!!!!!

My grandma bought me my first metal album. She got me Metallica's "Black Album" for Christmas when I was in 8th grade.

I first started listening to the whole screaming aspect of metal when Slipknot and Mudvayne rolled around, it really was something I had never heard before.

From there on I got into the big Massachusetts bands (KSE, Unearth, Shadows Fall, and All That Remains) and I've never looked back.

Kiss-Rock and Roll Over First LP I ever bought, I was about 6 or 7 at the time.

The album Stay Hungry by Twisted Sister back in '84. That changed me for the rest of my life.

Metallica

The first time I heard Metallica, I new that I would never turn away from metal. Then came Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Sabbath, Anthrax, and Pantera. Now, I'm in love with Metal.

And unlike the masses.. I can honestly say it was well BEFORE the Black album.

I had the pleasur, as a young lad..to see Metallica not once, but TWICE (I was around 10) with Burton still alive.

My only complaint is that i was way too young to actually appreciate what I was hearing.
