Was Sen. McCain justified in divorcing his first wife when she was terminally ill?

McCain was 42 years old when he started his affair while married to his terminally ill wife. He blames this indiscretion upon "immaturity". Was this immaturity excuse...at 42, my God when did this azzhole reach maturity?...reasonable?

This is a character issue that has bothered me for a long time. It's another one of those "swept under the rug" issues that McCain gets a pass on, though.

I'm not a big McCain fan, but this particular story isn't true.

McCain's first wife was in a bad car accident, which left her with permanent injuries, but she was never "terminally ill" as evidenced by the fact that she is alive today (30 years later).

McCain did begin dating his second (and current) wife, Cindy, while still married to his first; but they were separated at the time (say what you will, but that's just not as bad as an out and out affair).

As I say, I'm not a fan of McCain nor will I vote for him, but I don't believe in bashing the guy for something that didn't happen...especially not after the job W and Rove did on him in 2000, saying his adopted Bangladeshi daughter was an "illegitimate black child."

However, if you want some really two-faced, dreadful marital misconduct to be offended by, check out Newt Gingrich's past...HE is a total CREEP!

initially as quickly as I examine this, i presumed "how selfish" which you will leave a ill boyfriend to in all danger die with out feeling love for the final time yet then I did the maths...you have been together 3yrs, he's been ill for 1yr, yet you 2 had 2yrs wherein to comprehend one yet another, love one yet another and get married. If that had occurred, would you nevertheless ask the question of morality? in all danger no longer. you should do the honorable element and stay with the aid of your husband, yet as unhappy as that's, there grew to become into an threat for him to be your husband, back then. i'm hoping he has kin to confirm him with the aid of, on account which you have your life to stay. do no longer drag it out, be rapid approximately it. it rather is devastating yet you're scared and drained and wiped out. no rely in case you right this moment run out and discover the life you're finding for is neither right here nor there top now. top now you desire a destroy. leave. Get some air, and be risk-free. God Bless you for the potential you mustered up for the previous year to nevertheless stand with the aid of him, and safeguard him as much as you should. safeguard your self. My prayers to you the two.

What bearing does this have? Truly?

Senator Ted Kennedy participated in an activity in which a woman DIED. She drowned and he did nothing, not even reporting it as an accident until many many hours later. And not a blamed thing was ever done, even to this very day. His negligence may of cause her death. It was NEVER investigated as he was having an affair with the woman.

So, before getting your Jones up, check the backyard.

    1. It's his personal life.

    2. You don't have to justify divorce in the U.S.

    3. Many marriages break up due to the stress of serious illness.

    4. Walk a mile in his shoes, then judge.

    5. He admits learning from his mistakes in middle age. So do I. We learn from mistakes all our lives. Hopefully you'll see this one day.

I don't think so. I count that as a charactor flaw... I would like to think that a future president could work out his/her marrital issues.
