I need help!?
My dad has finally been convinced to buy a dog, but i dont know how to get accsess to one. If I show him information of where to buy it and he doesnt have to do the work himself, i know it'll up my chances of gettting a dog soon. I have been greatly advised not to buy a dog from the local SPCA because of sicknesses and behavior problems with the dogs that come from that certain siteeeee.
oh & i want a collie (:

You got wrong information concerning dogs at the SPCA or any other rescue organization. These dogs are cared for and given shots and spayed or neutered before they're adopted. They are WONDERFUL pets. I've had several shelter dogs, all of whom have been very healthy. Try a collie rescue organization.

As you can see most of us agree that Petfinders.com is an excellent source for gathering the information you're after.
You didn't say what kind of collie you were looking for.
Are you looking for a bearded collie? ( looks kinda like a sheep dog),
A border collie? (the usually black and white ones that are so prominent at dog trials),
Or maybe you want a rough collie ( lassie)
just type in "collie rescue" in your search engine and you're at a good starting point.
Good Luck to you and your future companion.

Look in the classifieds near your home. The best place to buy a dog is from a family with a litter from their pets. You may have to look for a while, but you want a pet. People with large kennels with lots and lots of dogs really don't have pets, they have canine livestock. You want a pet.

Try petfinder.com
they have lists of available pets at shelters. And pets that need homes from regular people (pet classifieds). You can also look for a add in your newspaper and call local pet stores and ask if they have puppies. Good luck.
