Personally, I though he had an indifferent game. He certainly got around the park and had a good work rate, but too many errors at this level. The Boks were more clinical (some may think cynical) at the breakdown but I do not think Thommo cost us the game. He cost us three points, yes, but there were others that contributed in this department too. I do not think he can be blamed for the try. Mealamu got sold a dummy and where was Ellis or Carter protecting the channel? Thomson is a great talent, that will only get better with exposure at the highest level, and we should be grateful that for the timebeing, at least, he is plying his trade on these shores.

And Chinaman, enough of the eye-gouging allegations. Get your facts straight lest we be accused of whinging. Your assertions are no more a cheap shot than a late tackle by James on Carter. AB supporters are better than that!

It wasn't malicous and it wasn't stomping!. It was a stupid act to do, but if a player does that to an ALl Black such as Ritchie McCaw then McCaw deserved it. To be honest the Higginbottms kneeing was like an annoying fly for McCaw

He lost us the game with a bad positional play that let Januarie through but its the kind of mistake that you learn to correct with practise and experience. I think any other flanker new to that level of rugby would have made the same mistake.

I think he was as good as someone with two tests under their belt could hope to be and if we keep giving him the start (Richie, Thompson and So'oialo at the back) we're going to have a fantastic flanker who'll be with us for a good long while.

Not bad for a new fella . . . think Rodney and Adam have a much easier job when Mr McCaw is ripping around the paddock.

Let's hope Ritchie is right for Capetown, and I'm sure Adam and the rest of the young fellas will get plenty of voice and be able to shine.

He was pretty good, dint win much ball but his tackling was solid. He just seemed to pop up everyone. And got his eyes gouged by the South African guy

He has become another one of those good players that hasn't made the step up to International rugby. Great in the S14 but that's about it.

B+. Not bad, but not outstanding. He had big shoes to fill. I guess the good thing for NZ is that I think he will get better in a black jersey.

I think he'd be better at 7 than Rodney...I thought he had a good game...too many penalties but he'll get better

Solid but not spectacular. Gave away too many penalties.
