I think it was meant to be funny. I thought it was funny.

Rush Limbaugh often draws criticism for jokes he tells about Democrats which are thought by some people to be in bad taste. He always defends himself by saying "Hey, it was just a joke. Where's your sense of humor?" So it's good to see that the right wing has the same problem when one of theirs is lampooned.

There was a famous lawsuit a few years ago by Jerry Falwell against Hustler Magazine. Hustler ran a fake ad for Jack Daniels whiskey. Jack Daniels ran real ads where they'd have some customer of their product tell of some childhood experience. This one had Jerry Falwell telling of how he lost his virginity. In an outhouse. To his own mother.

Falwell sued, and the case went all the way to the Supreme Court. The ruling was that any normally-intelligent person could tell this was satire, not the real testimony of Jerry Falwell. As such it was allowable under the 1st Amendment.

I thought it was really a gross ad, but Falwell himself was no hero. He had said some very malicious and irresponsible things along the way so there was a sort of rough, poetic justice about it.

If you're going to run for president, you can't be thin-skinned. It seems very hypocritical to me, especially for Republicans, to manufacture outrage over such a mild joke. McCain was not going to carry NYC anyway.

I think it's really offensive and distasteful....that was my reaction looking at the cover first....Even giving benefit of the doubt in trying to understand the article author's purpose, and hoping to compare in conjunction with the drawing....I still came away finding it offensive, distasteful and on some levels disrespectful and insulting to me, the would be reader....But I'm guessing Fox News and others will have fun with it....

This whole process is getting ridiculous at this point....via the media and every other what not....It's becoming a circus....for both sides....I'm disappointed....

As an Independent, it would be nice to actually be able to hear all the candidates running talk about something, instead of constantly being on the defensive.....and I'm sure the media nit picks every single word and gesture to find a hint of something that can be made a big deal of....keeping everything off focus and discombobulated...and doubt the third party candidates will get much, if any coverage.....

Hence the reason for personal research....

I understand that they were trying to poke fun at all the stupid rumors and smears, but they didn't pull it off. That's going to anger alot of people. They may have been able to use it as part of the article, and have it make sense; but standing alone on the cover like that it doesn't work and I'm betting they'll pull it.

Priceless! Watch for thousands of tee shirts coming soon to a store near you!

What a wimp that lying, racist bigot is to say "I have no response"! What... he cannot give one honest, straight forward answer without it being said in his ear piece first?

I think it's sick that a paper can do that. But then you have Fox news to thanks for that. Lies and propaganda is what they are all about.
