Why do the uniformed continually blame liberals for the lack of drilling?

Wouldn't it be a better idea to actually look at the facts?

Update:

The biggest oilman in the country has stated this. Drilling will not make a difference. So far all I'm seeing is a bunch of Parroting.

Sure--but since when did the neoconservatives ever look at the facts? They're just playing their usual game. Make up an explanation for events that blames someone other than themselves.

What's funny about this one is that, if they stopped to think, they'd know that drilling for more oil a) isn't going to bring prices down ( since the increase isn't due to a supply shortage) and won't make us energy independent (not that much oil available). Assuming, of course, they evr took Economics 101--which apparently none of them have.

Because it is the liberals who are against drilling. They have been knocking down any ideas that include drilling for many years. It is the liberals who put us in this predicament. I also do not know where you get your information, but probably the same place Al Gore got his "facts" for his "documentary."

BTW, President Bush's approval rating low as it is, is almost 4 times higher than that of the liberal led congress.

    EDIT:

Drilling will not immediately bring gas prices down, because the reason they are high is that investors speculate that the supply may go down. There is in fact sufficient supply at the moment. The speculations are based on current laws and policies, not any principles of economics. However, developing other sources of energy and drilling for oil will put us in a position to be more self sufficient in the future and not depend on foreign supply. Then the prices will come down. The liberals, however, do not have a shortage of reasons why we can't drill or develop alternative energy sources.

    O.K., then inform us.

Who has it been (since the mid 70s) that has blocked us even building a simple refinery in this country?

Who even now, is trying to block developing our own resources?

Who blocks every attempt to build a power plant? Who even protests wind farms because it screws up their views? Who is it that stops all construction at all because a lizard lives in the area? Who is it that calls for increased taxes on fuel to force conservation? I have no problem with alternative sources, but a realistic infrastructure for them is at least 15 years off. We need relief now! A new major oil supply is about 7 years off. You do the math. Which one is quicker?

Anyway, the answer to all those questions above is the same: A concentrated effort by environmentalists and the dem politicos who cater to them. Whacko libs all.

Neither group are noted as conservative.

And just the stated intent to drill our own would be enough to drive many speculators out of the oil market, thereby bringing quick relief.

EDIT- That "biggest oilman" you refer to is also hugely invested in "alternatives." It's still all money for him.

Funny how the "evil rich" start being heroes when they spout the lefty/socialist party line though, huh?

BTW- Still haven't proven that it's not libs doing it though, have you?

For several decades, the Democratic Party has pursued policies designed to drive up the cost of petroleum, and therefore gas at the pump.

    ANWR Exploration

    House Republicans: 91% Supported

    House Democrats: 86% Opposed

    Coal-to-Liquid

    House Republicans: 97% Supported

    House Democrats: 78% Opposed

    Oil Shale Exploration

    House Republicans: 90% Supported

    House Democrats: 86% Opposed

    Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) Exploration

    House Republicans: 81% Supported

    House Democrats: 83% Opposed

    Refinery Increased Capacity

    House Republicans: 97% Supported

    House Democrats: 96% Opposed

    SUMMARY

91% of House Republicans have historically voted to increase the production of American-made oil and gas.

86% of House Democrats have historically voted against increasing the production of American-made oil and gas.

So why is America NOT energy independent?

Because, over the past 30 years:

Democrats have blocked the development of new sources of petroleum.

Democrats have blocked drilling in ANWR.

Democrats have blocked drilling off the coast of Florida.

Democrats have blocked drilling off of the east coast.

Democrats have blocked drilling off of the west coast.

Democrats have blocked drilling off the Alaskan coast.

Democrats have blocked building oil refineries.

Democrats have blocked clean nuclear energy production.

Democrats have blocked clean coal production.

    Democrats sold out to environmentalists.

Democrats set up "No Zones" where they will not allow drilling or development:

Sounds pretty informed to me... perhaps you are the one who is uninformed.

What facts are you talking about?

The liberals do like less drilling. The congress doesn't want a vote on drilling, most of the environmental movement would classify themselves as liberal and they don't want drilling.

Well the executive ban is about to be lifted so who is now up to?

"Congressional Democrats, joined by some GOP lawmakers from coastal states, have opposed lifting the prohibition that has barred energy companies from waters along both the East and West coasts and in the eastern Gulf of Mexico. "

yes, let's look at the facts

since 1980, the democrats have blocked drilling in ANWR, as well as offshore, where Cuba and Russia and Mexico are currently at it

if we had started drilling years ago, we'd not be in the mess we are in today

Probably the most uninformed question I have encountered yet.

  • 1 decade ago

why dont you ask the goddess Pelosi why she voted to not drill?

  • 1 decade ago

One - it isn't the uninformed, it is the exact opposite.

And, Two it is THE FACTS.
