Can you help me choose a bird cage?

Alright, I am about to move and need some help getting a bird cage. I have two cats, a dog...and then 3 parakeets and 2 cockatiels (I know it's recommended you don't house these birds together, but they've all bonded as a flock and for three years have never harmed each other).

The problem is, right now I was able to keep the birds in the computer room, seperate from the other animals. Where I'm moving, that won't be an option.

I'm looking into acrylic bird cages, and I only have about 700 dollars maximum to spend...I'm at a loss of what to do, if possible I'd rather not give up the birds (except as a last resort, because I'd rather they be SAFE.

These are the only two acrylic webpages I've found...

The birds all seem to congregate at the top of their current 3 foot tall cage, so I was thinking something wider this time. What dimensions should I get? Do you know of any other places I could buy?

Update:

It is the fact that my cat has killer instincts. I tried to keep them in the same room, supervised of course, and every few minutes my cat would launch onto the side of their cage.

My main concern is my birds have a habit of clinging to the side or upside down from the top of their cage more than on their perches! I have a 3 feet tall cage now, with a two foot stand...but my cat can easily jump four feet to latch onto the bottom and climb.

I'd rather not have to declaw my cat, and where I'll be moving they have another cat I don't know the habits of, and a large husky-shepard mix dog that again...I don't know the habits of.

Thanks for all the help so far, guys, I'm still doing some research on my own. The 700 dollars I saved up specifically for getting a new cage, but that's all I have for it. ^.^

Let's look at your options here. You could spend big money on a new acrylic cage, or buy one or two large "double breeder" cages off ebay for much less. You can even stack them on top of each other. They won't be on tables, and they'll be in one place. For $250 you can get this great setup - http://cgi.ebay.com/Double-Breeder-Cage-Flight-Bir...

$700 is a lot of money, be frugle, if you are then you can keep your birds and keep alot of your money. But if you really have your heart set on an acrylic cage, then opt for a cheap, or used one. Put out a "wanted" ad in your local newspapers. Or scoure bird marts for cheap cages. Last I heard, it's been difficult for the cage makers to get thier hands on acrylic, so these cages will be even more $$$.

Are you saying safety is a concern? Is that why you are looking for acrylic? What do your animals do that make you concered for your birds? As long as the cage bar width is 1/2" or smaller, thier should be little threat of a cat hurting your birds.

I hope I've helped you in deciding. Best of luck!

my computer room had the same problem. I went to www.acrylicbirdcages.com and I bought one acrylic cage for my office. the dander and dust was all over before I got the acrylic cage. I liked it soooo much I got another one. Eric is the guy to talk too. You won't find acrylic cages for less money. They include everything but the bird!!!.

The pagoda, palms down. The pasadena is often used however the pagoda seems lots greater desirable. solid success alongside with your finches! the ultimate element is, they're community birds, so in case you like greater, all you should do is get a bigger cage :)
