Spanking Illegal!?

My sister used to let her 8 yr old son cuss and spit at people. She didn't believe in spanking. He cussed and spit at me once. I grabbed his collar, picked him up and pinned him against the wall. My face one inch from his I angrily told him if he ever did that again i would rip his _ucking head off and sh_t down his neck. Guess what? he stopped. I mean he didn't do it to anybody after that. You know what I think? I think my sister was the one committing child abuse.

I could not have said this any better myself. When I was a child, I got spanked a lot of times and I have grown into a mature well behaved adult and NON CRIMINAL..people who think we shouldn't "discipline" our children should go into the public school system and work with them for about a week.. most of them would quit before that week was up. Not caring enough to spank your child is abuse. Some parents get carried away and then it becomes abuse but that's a whole different topic. I wonder why our juvenile hall facilities are full and why kids are carrying guns to school. I wonder why our jails are so full of people who are barely adults...they had no discipline. I spanked my child one time and DCFS was at my door threatening to remove him. I asked them if they wanted me to wait until he got in high school to do anything to him..then I could visit him in jail.

I think that since people started using different types of punishment (e.g. Time Out) that kids are even more out of control. I am 25 and every time i got out of line i either got the belt from my dad or a good slap across the face from my mom. And it taught me a lesson. Kids today are becoming GIGANTIC brats! i think more people should advocate spanking and do away with "sit there and think about what you did" because it obviously isn't working.

Its not illegal at all. Most states do approve of physical punishment as long as its not over the top. Hell I kick the crap out of my brother all the time, it builds character. Now he sometimes fights back and that's a good thing since now he understands that if he does not do anything about it people will just do whatever they want to him.

I was never beaten as a child. I don't beat my child. And yet, I was a respectful kid, as is my daughter. There are more and better ways to discipline a child without resorting to physical violence. If you can't raise a child properly without beating them, then you're just a poor parent.

And yes, hitting a child is abuse, no matter how you like to pretend it isn't. Would you hit your wife if she does something wrong? Or is it only OK to do it to a defenseless child?

You should read some of the questions on the pets branch of this site. There are people who believe the way to train a dog is to ignore him when he does something bad. If that's how they train their dogs, I can only imagine what they do with their kids.

Your premise is based on the idea that spanking is illegal. It's not.

To the liberal mindset, spanking or any other form of punishment and/or discipline should be outlawed. But then, all we'd have is outlaw's when they grow up.

If you can't raise a child to be a respectable adult without hitting them, you probably shouldn't have kids.
