Neighbour dispute...?
My Neighbour built a detached garage right up against the property line between our houses. He built it beneath a tree that is plants just on my side of the property line. He is now claiming that this tree is causing moss to grow on his garage roof shingles and that I need to cut it down. I don't want to cut it down because it's the only thing that blacks any view of his stupid garage. I understand he can trim any branches that cross the property line, but that won't solve the shade problem. Is it legit to tell him to move his damn garage, because the tree was there first!
2 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoHome Brew lost foam sooner than expected?
I'm making my first ever batch of homemade Stout. According to the instructions, the wort and yeast should sit for 3 to5 days, and should reach a SG below 1020. It said when the head drops, to move it to the carboy. After less than 2 days, the head dropped completely, and the SG is just above 1020. Does the sudden drop in head indicate a problem already?
2 AnswersBeer, Wine & Spirits1 decade agoHelp my Fiancee find Bridesmaid dresses?
So my fiancee and I live in Manitoba, and we're getting married in southern Ontario (1000 miles away, we're from there originally).
One of her bridesmaids lives here in Manitoba, and the other 2 are in S. Ontario.
How do we get the same dress on all 3 women, from a store where they can try it on first, for less than $100?
Any and all suggestions are welcome.

Name as many wars/battles as you can where Canadian Forces participated. No restrictions on level of participation of time in history.

It's important for only non-canadians to answer this as the results are for a speech I'm writing on the international awareness of Canada's roll in international affairs.

6 AnswersEntertaining1 decade agoRetro Country Song I Can't Find?
I need help. I know this song exists, because I can sing it... but I can't find the name of the song or artist ANYWHERE. I need a retro country fan to help me out. Here is what I can remember of the chorus.
Here comes Ernie on his Elvis trip,
Slickin' his hair back, and curlin' his lip.
He's makin' his move,
and she's just, Sittin' pretty.
Here comes Tiny tryin' to look slim,
Chest stuck out, and Gut sucked in.
He don't stand a chance,
and she's just, Sittin' pretty.
I'm NOT crazy. This exists somewhere...

I'm looking for a way to use a bmp or gif as the background of a window. I can't quite figure how I would do that, but I assume it should be possible. Any help?
use Tk;

my $mw = MainWindow->new;
$mw->geometry("400x100");
$mw->title("Main Window");
#$mw->Photo('imgbmp',-file=>"F:\\matrix.gif");

1 AnswerProgramming & Design1 decade agoIf you think nuclear power is bad...?
I dare the hippies to tell me that nuclear is un-safe and that we can't deal with the high level radioactive waste (spent nuclear fuel) created from it.
Point 1 - Safety.
The nuclear industry has one of the highest safety records of any industry in the world. See here...
http://www.world-nuclear.org/info/inf06.html
Point 2 - Dealing with waste.
The high level waste CAN be dealt with. Currently they are building deep geological repositories to dispose of the waste in. Solid rock 1000's of feet (a km or more for us awesome Canadians) below the surface of the earth. This IS a permanent solution, and the earth has the natural ability to contain the waste there until we blow the earth up ourselves. The proof? The Oklo Natural Reactors. Natural nuclear chain reactions that occurred millions of years ago. Guess what Mr. environmental extremist... the waste products from those NATURAL nuclear chain reactions... have remained within a few meters of the point they were created the WHOLE TIME.

Now, here's where we get the interesting attempts to disprove the evidence...
13 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoI dare you to prove me wrong?
Let's assume for a second (a brief and maniacal second) that beating misbehaving children is NOT the solution.
Since the early 1900's... spanking and corporal punishment have been used less and less, and been replaced by "time-outs" and child psychologists. If that was the CORRECT way to teach children how to behave, why have youth crime rates only gone UP over the course of the century? Can anyone explain to my why spanking is NOT the solution? Why a technique we KNOW worked is being replaced by a no-discipline, no respect mentality, which is being proven NOT to work? Please explain this to me... I am having SERIOUS issues grasping it.
25 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoCanadians, do you agree?
There is a problem with our legal system. Criminals are not being punished like they used to be, and now, it's gotten to the point where the consequences no longer deter crime. Auto-theft, assault, handgun possession... these are all offenses you can get out on BAIL for...
Drunk drivers get their LICENSE back!
Murder.. Rape... these bastards have chances at PAROLE!?
We need stiffer laws. Criminals are criminals because they can be. There's no real reason for them NOT to be. They get fed and treated humanely in prison, and they can get out eventually and go back to breaking the law again.
Before anyone answers, don't give me any BS about it sometimes not being people's fault. Everyone makes their own choices.
1 AnswerLaw & Ethics1 decade agoSpanking Illegal!?
Why is it that people think that by REMOVING consequences for bad behaviour, that it will somehow make the world a better place. If there are no serious consequences for bad behaviour... why would any kid do what wussy mom and dad say if they can't do anything to make him? How can anyone actually think that spanking is child abuse? NOT spanking your kid and letting him/her grow up to be an ignorant thug is the REAL child abuse.
10 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoNHL Playoffs: Sens Vs Pens?
Did anyone see that game? Does anyone else think Andrej Meszaros is one of the biggest reasons the Sens lost?!
I mean he can't keep the puck in the offensive zone... he can't shoot on net worth a damn... he always waits till he's covered to take a shot only to have it BLOCKED IN THE LAST SECONDS OF THE GAME SCREWING THEM TOTALLY!!!
What you think?
12 AnswersHockey1 decade agoIs baseball really a "team sport"?
I mean really, at any given time there are 3 people doing stuff, and 7 guys standing around thinking to themselves "I really hope he hits it to me this time..."
Then if a guy gets a hit, there are still only 3 people doing anything. The guy getting and throwing the ball, the runner running, and MAYBE you could count the guy going to catch it as doing something though he's still just standing there too.
Don't know how you can stand it really.

11 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoShould Yahoo! Answers make it a rule that you must be 18 in order to answer questions?
I'm tired of punk *** little kids answering with ignorant opinions... reporting serious answers for no reason... and making a rediculous farce of something generally useful. I don't mind of they ask questions. That's healthy. But there's no way a 10 year old has the answers to anything not involving pokemon. Yahoo! should put a restriction in place so that anyone under a certain age may not answer questions, only ask them. Agree or Diagree? Give a reason.
