Canadian forces, aye, were instrumental in the Normandy invasion as well as the Battle of the Bulge. Patton's 3rd Army in France bombarded retreating Nazi-German forces from the southern ridges of a pass and it was the Canadian Army, aye, that bombarded them from the Northern ridges. The fact of the matter is, Canadian forces were in nearly every major battle of the European front. They are, and were a strong hard fighting ally of the US and G. Britain.

The big one for the Canadians is the Battle Of Vimy Ridge in WW1.
Then of course they were slaughtered in their droves, along with Australians, in Bomber Command in WW2 without a single word of appreciation from the British.
They played a very important role in Operation Overlord (D Day WW2) landing in their own area of beach alongside the British.
The Canadian military history is one they can be justly proud of. It's just a shame they were also excellent at getting killed for the British...just like Australians.

Canada sent 2800 troops into Afghanistan as part of NATO's multinational force.
They also sent 40,000 troops into Vietnam.
