How do you turn off the feature in Windows that remembers what you've searched for?

I hate it when I type into the search box in Google or any search engine and Windows remembers everything I've ever typed in that begins with those letters. I know there's a way to turn that off but I forget where it is.

Its not windows thats doing that, it'll be the browser you're using.

To turn it off in Internet Explorer do the following:

1). Go to the tools menu then click Internet Options

2). Click on the tab that says content

3). Look for the section that says autocomplete and click settings

4). Uncheck the boxes as required ('forms' is the one that remembers what you searched for)

If you use Firefox simply go to the Tools menu and click 'clear private data'

    HERE ARE THE STEPS -

If you use IE6 - Open Internet explorer - click on tools - click on Internet options - click on content tab - click on auto complete - click on clear forms.

If you use IE7 - Open Internet explorer - click on tools - click on Internet options - Click the Delete button under Form Data - Click Yes to confirm your actions -Click Close.

Close IE and open IE. It will clear anything you searched for in the past.

    I hope it helps,.

Go to google (or whatever the website is that you want to delete the history from) and click in the box where you type. Then scroll down with the down key and hit delete.

The very top bar of your windows screen (File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help)

go into tools, down to options, and then in the privacy section you can customize your history options.

i use firefox...the setup is different for the other browsers, but not too different.
