if you are meaning jan 2/79 then you would be a capricorn,
if you are meaning feb 2/79 then you would be an aquarius but the zodiac sign of pisces doesn't begin until the 20th of feb
there really isn't any difference that I can find between the indian vedic astrology and regular astrology. Some sites differ as to whether pisces starts on the 19th or the 20th of feb but still is no where close to causing you any confusion if you were born on the 2nd.

if you are saying jan 2 then your capricorn(earth)
if your saying 1 feb than aquarius
capricorn:dec 22 till jan 19(earth)
aquarius :20 jan till 18 feb ( air)
pisces: 19feb till 20 march( water)
